Await no longer your Langley resident... The poisen has been chosen and McCabe (unfortunately) is it... The Poof is logging a lot of minutes on a good blue line (unfortunately)... I would cheer for both of them as soon as they pull on the
CANADIAN maple Leaf... I thought the Poof was huge at the World Juniors last year and he promises to be a blue chip Dman in the NHL for another decade... McCabe came into the league with a lot of promise, but was made the Islanders captain at 22 or 23 and never lived up to his billing... He has had a good season (offensively), but I don't think that necessarily warrants a spot on team Canada... HOWEVER, Quinn will get him off the taxi squad and onto the playing roster before the Poof... Bottom line, Hockey Canada is like every other organized association in our now Conservative (use that term looser than Dude's missus) country...
ex:
Gretzky: "You scratch my bum, I'll let McCabe play"
Quinn: "He's a team player and always drops the soap like Messier used to"
Gretzky: "We'll take him then"
Quinn: "Good, now I don't have to hear him winge in my office anymore"
My vote goes to Hannan and Phillips over both lads. Younger vets in their late 20's... Hannan has a World Cup medal and is very defensive minded (he's also from Surrey which means he's street smart)

Phillips is also very strong in his own end, but also jumps up into the rush very well... Neither will hurt Canada... The Poof is still very in-experienced for a defenceman and McCabe gives up more defensively than Lumme ever did in Vancouver!!!
