Re: [VMSL Premier] Results & Banter September 2007 West Van 1 Sapperton 0
West Van started well while Sapperton started flat. Sapperton lost Woody 10 minutes in with a cut on his forward resulting in 16 stitches, then lost Colin Phillips 5 minutes later with what appeared to be a sprained knee. Some nice hustle by a West Van forward (#11 - don't know his name) resulted in West Van's goal off a cross and far-post tap-in in the 35th minute. West Van could have had a couple more but missed some pretty good chances.
Sapperton played much better in the second half and had West Van pinned in their zone for most of the half but West Van weathered the storm well and gave up few, if any, quality chances.
West Van's best performances came from their former Peg lads - Doddy, Shorty, and Nico, while Sapperton had good performances from Rob Sing, Brody Phillips, and Ted Ullrich. Overall, West Van deserved the three points.
Rene's refereeing was excellent. A lot of solid tackles and some tough, physical play resulted in exactly 0 cards, which is the way it should be. |
