2007 Provincials Masters Championships: Round of 16 Banter

So here is the draw for the round of 16 for this year's Provincial Cup. Home teams are listed 1st:

Top half:

Game 1: Columbus FC (VMSL) vs Nanaimo (VISL).

Game 2: UVic Alumni (VISL) vs Metro Ford Wolves (VMSL).

Game 3: VicWest FC (VISL) vs Vancouver Firefighters (VMSL).

Game 4: Surrey Utd (VMSL) vs Nordic FC (NSCL).

Bottom half:

Game 5: Aldergrove Utd (FVSL) vs Vantreights (VISL)

Game 6: Westside (VMSL) vs West Van FC (VMSL)

Game 7: Coveside FC (NSCL) vs SFC Rangers (FVSL)

Game 8: NorVan (NSCL) vs Peace Arch (FVSL)


Winner of 1 plays winner or 2, winner or 3 plays winner of 4, winner of 5 plays winner of 6, and winner of 7 plays winner of 8, and it carries on after that.

A few thoughts: Top side looks tougher than the bottom side.

NS league got yet another bad draw.

1st round MOTW is game 6.

1st round weekend of April 28. 2nd round weekend of May 5, semis are weekend of May 12 and the final is May 26 in Nanaimo at 2 PM.

The Valley got themselves a pretty decent draw, and I can see all three teams winning their first round matches. Unlucky for Metro-Ford having to draw UVic in the first round, especially after taking the ferry to get thumped.

As we play Surrey Rangers, I would make a prediction;

But unfortunately I just spent an hour an a half surfing FVSL threads, and they talk nothing but shit on there. With nothing about teams, and there strength's or weaknesses.

We will know by Sunday noon on the 29th, At least we are home, with Norvan and PAU playing after us, with a 12 noon KO!

B]Uvic[/b] are a sure bet to do well .Nanaimo are strong with some good players. Vanterights are always in your face and are cheap.Vic West have a strong young team this year. As everyone knows anything can happen in the cup. as I said the 4 teams from the island are playing well this year. It should be a fun tourney.

As far as this new latecoming infomation from the Island goes, staff are going to be putting out one more edition of the rankings after this weekend...I know West Van and MF have to play, but I heard a rumour that there are one or two Valley fixtures this week? The Rangers finished off our season last night with a 3 - 0 victory over the red hot Aldergrove Oly's.........Izzat, McCaw, and yes Barry with the goals last night. Tony was back in goal with Dan Penner backing him up..Yikes.

Sounds like a goalie controversy Coach As Penner was later seen head butting the goal post while muttering something about his playing time. I heard he wanted to go back to Norvan?

A lttle bit of a tough draw for us but no worries We've got a faster side this year with match fitness (half the guys are training for the half marathon)..........don't exactly match their talent but I'm sure they'll be few teams out there pulling for us to knock the BRM into an early exit
