where is everyone staying up in Vernon?
We are at th Casino . I'm betting our room money on black at the roulette table. Hope fully I can win a few spins and be able to make a profit for the Kamloops tourney.

The CA boys were into the semi's this morning when we left. Showing well for the VMSL. their bus was a fantastic idea.

As for us in Vernon, We shat the bed. We go up with 14 players and lose 2 in the first game. We had the run of play and lose 3-0. We hit 4 posts and crossbar 3 times, 3 cleared off the line. Talk about meant to be. I stopped a penalty and was quite good, no chance on any of the goals. After that lose it seemed the hearts of many of our players were no longer in it as i was one of the few positive guys afer the game. Anyway, overall a good learning experience that will bode well for our team in the future.

As for the tables. Blackjack was good Friday, Bad Saturday. Poker bad friday, good Saturday. Roulette wasn't open when i went to play the bet. Overall up $200.00. hopefully that covers the damage to the door we blew open in the hotel.

Default I am done.

Final
Shamrock Rovers - 2 North Delta Lions-0

What a tourney. We won 2 and tied one in our round robin. Went through and played Cliff Ave in the semi's. They are a strong team. We scored a goal in the first half and held them off the rest of the game. Our defence was spectacular all weekend. Joelie the Goalie came up huge against Cliff Ave and stopped a shot from the 6 yard line with 10 min. to go.

We did really well. Honestly I didn't think that we would have gone so deep in the tourney with 3 starters missing and 3 others missing as well. But we picked up some talented players from our Div.2 and 4 team which stepped up and filled in fine. I think our backline was the story of our success. Peterson, Tim, and Fitzy cent were solid back there. ( of course know one could replace cheddar though )

Kevan Gaull came though with 6 goals for us in the 5 games. A much needed offence.

In a tournament like this it comes down to survival of the fittest. I think some clubs could beat other clubs on a given Sunday match with a full roster and healthy players. But after playing one game friday night and then 2 games in 33 degree heat Saturday afternoon, then 2 more on a hot Sunday afternoon. IT IS CRAZY!
The teams who win and go through are the ones who are hydrated, a deep bench and the least amount of injuries.

We had a really tough match in the semi's and worked hard to keep the lead. The Shamrock team had an easy semi against a team with one sub, was the rumor. Then they play us who were all beaten up from the large Cliff Ave squad. No excuses though. The Rover's deserved the win. They scored 2 goals first half and we couldn't find the energy to answer them back, we were though in there end most of the second.

Anyways, great expeirence and happy with a silver medal. Gonna have some beers and sleep for the next couple of days. Cheers!

P.S.
Congratulations to Cheddar and Mrs. Cheddar on going half on a baby.
Jenna Colleen
Baby girl. excuse the spelling Cheddar. Don't know if you did something funky with the spelling of it.

It goes to prove what I have been saying for the last 3 years. The Richmond Premier League is the best league in the province. I have a lot of friends on the Shamrock Rovers team and I am really glad they won. Well done, Rovers!

I agree with LION. We played really well considering the guys we were missing and that K.P. and Neil were playing hurt. Not to mention our D and centre mid played the whole tourney without getting subbed. Rovers were a good side and deserved the win but I think with our full squad it would have been a tighter game. Anyhoo, solid performance from our boys. Played our guts out to beat Cliff Ave, who were the best team there and would have won the final in my opinion. It took all we had to beat them, and the 1 hour break between games was appalling. Not sure who scheduled that. Madness!

PS. The drive home sucked.

It was a tongue in cheek remark, Steve. When I played in the league there was a lot of piss-taking at the time, so I thought this would be an appropriate plug for the league.

Not anymore, it's a very serious league now. Hell I would not be suprised to see a Blaze team trying to gain entry next year.
