Sluts.
Sluts.
Also, Everyone keeps talking about costs.
First year 3 trips to the Island and most likely less after That.
Thats it Guys 3 trips to the Island.
$3000 tops total is $150 a player more a whole year.
And less if we play double headers and travel together.
Sponcers? BC Ferrys Deal?
$5.00 a player fee increase for the whole league?
I see no Huge Cost Problems.
I also think we should subsidize some of the Islands Travel...Again less in the year/s to follow one would think. But none the less help them out.
How much will have to be worked out for sure but were talking peanuts for what we all will be getting out of it..
To make it work we need to have passion for the game and all agree and understand that this will make Soccer better.
Alberta does it and must travel between 4 Cities week in and week out...And they are National Champs.
I hate that.
So if they can do it ...Why cant we.
Sponsor. It's spelled SPONSOR.
For the love of...
Ghouse...I love your passion, but my eyes bleed when I read your posts.
So far as chasing sponsors…again, you’d need somebody on this nearly full time. Chasing sponsors is a true labor of love. Sponsors will not open their wallet or provide any service in kind w/ out some sort of mutual benefit coming back to them. That means ink and / or face time. This league would need to be in a position- like the BCJHL- to garner that interest. The BCJHL has a successful, if not lean and mean business model. They all scrape by, and they do so on the strength of being involved in the sport of hockey.
So, if your budget per team is right now $10K / year, and you have no business plan to present to the prospective SPONSORS to show how they’d benefit…guess what? No sponsor.
In a nutshell, to get this off the ground, you need one of two things:
• 10 teams willing and able to put up a $10K commitment.
• A sugar daddy willing to front $100K of available funding.
So, back to the 3 team / league format…that leaves $33K for each league to come up w/ for the right to play, w/ no guarantees that they will have those three teams involved. If the league can somehow lean on the cities involved in their communities to provide sports grants, that would help…and the money is there, and available. But again…not to harp too munch: YOU NEED A DETAILED PLAN!
Passion alone is not enough. You need a plan, and you need to have the means of following the model. That means a staff, and the staff needs to be qualified, paid, and accountable.
My head hurts…
Strike a pose.
Ghouse...
Because it is the fcuking details that are missing! Fcuk me, why can't you get that through your skull?!?!?
Until concrete details are given to ALL stakeholders, there will be a great deal of uncertainty and concern.
BTW, there are only 3 cities in the AMSL: Edmonton, Calgary, Lethbridge.

Can we stop using Junior Hockey as examples on how to make it work, I get your intentions but you can’t compare Junior Hockey Leagues, in which you have 15-20 year olds playing, to a Mens Soccer league that will have an average age of 25 or so…. In Hockey some of those kids still got a chance, maybe late bloomers (the 15-17 yr olds), In Soccer you are talking about players who have pretty much reached their peak, they aren’t going on to make it to Europe, well maybe the 3 division in Italy…
Dude, Regs & Reedie are on the right track, you need a concrete plan and this thing may work.
Any updates with a meeting with Azzi or the VMSL teams?

I type in a hurry and I dont use spell check and Im a poor speller ,,,who frickin cares..Its not about my spelling its about whats good for soccer.
Yes we need a detailed plan (I think they have one or are on it)..Yes we will need to pull in a whopping 3k a team to make this work (peanuts)...And its about the future of soccer..Younger better players not about the 30 year old beer drinkin married hasbeens..
Its about what is ment to come.
Dude your Senior A Lacross is a perfect example. for now.
Reedie,
I don't think you really have to know the details of this league before the season starts. It would be nice i'm sure. but..
I'm also thinking you are going for the 3 points EVERY game this year. Weather this league goes forward or not.
You know what your playing for. To WIN. league, cup and provincials.
Your saying your tactics and mentality would change if you know or don't know the details of the BCPL?
Oh, and MEANT to come.
Off to wipe my eyes.
Strike a pose.
You don't need spell-check, you need a new fcuking brain.Younger better players not about the 30 year old beer drinkin married hasbeens

Look to Rugby for how to do this. They do first half of the season only within their own league and after Christmas their super league starts...with a Premier and a second XV team traveling together. I believe CDN Direct Insurance is a league sponsor (sponcor for you Ghouse) and I'm unclear what the individual teams do...but they seem to have a much more established fraternity and family of old players and supporters. The two games are very different that way. In summary, one sport showers together and the other drinks on the sidelines or goes to the pub with shinpads on. Off track...
All I am saying is lets get on it and do what we have to to make this great idea work.
You have to start somewhere. Contact your league and lend your hand..Help with what ever you can, what your best at. Dont complain...Get off your asses and help.
I see some of you have great Ideas. Some are bussiness men with knowledge of some of the details needed. Some on here must have contacts with big companies for sponsorship. Someone must know the right person at BC Ferrys. ANd someone must have an Idea on how to get some money out of Sport BC or the Sports Action Lotteries.
So many new Energy drinks out there and someone must know someone high up enough in the company to get them involved.
Shaw cable will get involved and so will the Province so you have a few outs already for advertizeing.
Just dont sit and bash and do nothing.
And if your good at nothing (like me) then just give your support to those who are.
I am setting up a fundraiser which you all will hear about soon enough.
Do something...
Or just bash me and my spelling.
Its not about you...Its about the future
Sorry...for me it is about apathy.
Strike a pose.
I have to totally disagree with this once again. Of course every team will be trying to win every game they play...that's common sense. But if we don't know the true long-term implications of the season from the outset, the whole thing is flawed. As well, if you think Azzi is going to push forward with this if he becomes aware that some of the top vmsl premier teams may decline the offer (either today or some point down the road when more details are released and a mountain of questions are answered), I would say your sadly mistaken. He is essentially putting his neck on the line with the other leagues right now and he will not want to end up with egg on his face at the end of the season if/when no one wants to commit to the super league however it has been structured. In my opinion, at the very least this concept needs to be put back a year so that all the information can be collected and we can move away from the countless question marks.
You know a very important question to ask is who really came up with this concept of a super league and what motivated them to do so? Do they have a separate agenda? Based on what I am hearing, it was initiated in the Valley, which is an interesting point to consider.
I see a lot of positive and negative remarks on this site , but do the people with the negative remarks have any other suggestions on how to make a new BC Premier League . I do believe that a new fresh idea like the BCPL is needed to try to improve and show off the best talent in BC.
When i moved over from England the Premier games in the VMSL and FVSL used to bring out a crowd of people to watch. Good hard hitting and skillful soccer was being played, now only the Provincial cup games bring out a crowd. I know i would go to watch these games.
Whoever said, 'It's not whether you win or lose that counts,' probably lost.
Maybe you stink and should go back to England? Crowds might return then.

I'm not trying to be negative...it could be a good idea. I'm just trying to point out that the current transition is full of holes, especially for the vmsl premier division. And to be honest, do I really give a shit about any of this?...C'mon, we are all just a bunch of amateurs looking to play some decent soccer IN CANADA and have a few beers and some laughs afterwards, aren't we? I didn't have a clue about any of this until I started hearing all these nightmare stories a few weeks ago about the proposed super league and it actually got me interested for a moment...I don't think it will last long...in fact, I can already feel the fingers starting to cramp up after more posts on this site since the days of Burnsallah. Hey, here's another thought...I wonder how come Firefighters, Norvan and QPR (read BC) won their National titles back in the day without a super league??? Maybe the overall standard of play has gone down in this province and it's got nothing to do with the league structure? I know, more negativity with no solutions....
Having said that, here is my idea for a new BC Premier League:
-Rename the vmsl the BC Premier League and tighten it up to 10 teams at the end of the season.
-accept one fvsl team into the league, as long as it isn't ACBC
-accept one visl team into the league, as long as they're named Gorge
And off you go....If this happens, I will gladly sit on the board of the new BC Premier League, if they will let me.
Competition will be at an all time high.
We will communicate.
We will bond.
Gorge will go bankrupt.
We will maybe even get on Shaw TV.
Honestly, why not start it off as a cup. Same allocation of teams from the 3 league playing home and homes through-out the season. If it flies, people care, spunsers (Hi Dude) come on board, turn it into a league. That, even Regs would "pay" to see.
Spit balling,
KNVB
McDirty can I ask you somthing intalagent.
