Default Seattle All Nation's Cup

The fourth annual Seattle Nation's Cup (formerly known as the Seattle World Cup) is schedule July 15-31 with 33 teams this year. The newest team added this year is Team Canada. It will have players from the VMSL and FVSL who are currently playing or at one point connected with Columbus Clan (which means some takethepissers will be heading down for the road trip).

The website is www.allnationscup.org All games scheduled on the turf at Starfire Sports Complex in South Seattle.

Canada faces three hard qualifying matches:

July 16 Columbia 11:30 am Field #2
July 16 Mexico 6:30 pm in the Stadium
July 17 Brazil 1:30 pm Field #3

The difficulty will be the 3 weekday games from July 19-21. After that, it's single knockout. Some teams will be bringing pro players from their home country, which is pretty weak since it's still an amateur tourney. Last year over the 3 weekends, they had over 30 thousand fans come out and the finals where at Seahawk Stadium. Bosnia beat the 2 time defending champions Brazil 5-2 in the finals last year and gain an automatic entrance to the round of 16.

Just got back!!!

The tournament it self is WELL run. Starfire Sport Complex, is an amazing place.

Our first match v Columbia, we took the lead 1-0 Garret Kusch scored the goal. Columbia came right back and ties it up on a scamlbe in front of our goal. Game ended 1-1.

Second game in the stadium v Mexico there was a crowd of about 300 people. The Mexicans had the drums and chants going. Great atmosphere in the Stadium. They went ahead on a BULLSHIT peno call, we came right back and tied it up but then in the second the Mexicans scored 2 and we lost 3-1.

Our last game v Brasil was a great game.Apparently before the tournament they called a bunch of hockey players. So that was all the bulllentin board material we needed before the game.

These guys went on like flys everytime we touched them they were flopping around. But to make a long story short Romeo scored in the 58th min (2 x 30 min) to give us the win. As the final whistle blew I sort of gestured to the Brazilian bench like I was holding a hockey stick and the coach just lost it!!! I swear he wanted to kill me. So we didnt get through, I guess its for the better because games would be mid week from this point on.

All in all it was a good weekend. This tournament can be easily won.

Our game v Mexico can be watched on the site posted above and the game v Brazil will be shown tomorrow.

cheers to all the boys from Sunderland. Long live Kevin Phillips.

We'll learn from our mistakes this year. Another night at Cowgirls Inc will be in the cards.

Guiseppe, Kevin Phillips, and Kevin Shawn Phillips were named to the All-Denny Team. There is only one King Kevin.......

Jokes aside, we all thank Adam our sponsor. Cheers all.

Entire Mexico vs Canada game is now on the web. Expect Brazil vs Canada game to be posted later tonight. After the debacle with the refs in the Mexico game, wondering if Carmen kept it cool in his interview after the Brazil game.

Peru nicked the last spot in the final 16 from Canada by one goal. The Peru vs Mexico game was fishy since it was 0-0. No way Peru should have went on.

Just watched the first 10 minutes of the Canada/Mexico game... does the speed of play pick up past that point? I wonder if the pace of all our amateur games come across as that slow...

Wished the camera person zoomed in a little more on the behind of the chick in the stands at about the 2 minute mark... couldn't tell if there was a thong or not...

ya, we made the error by not pumping the ball to Kuschy and tried to do the square ball from the free kick. The little Mexican's are great at the counterattack. They went up field like they were running from the border. 3-4 passes and it was in our net. It costed us at the end.

No I'd say what cost you guys was that brutal play on the 3rd goal. At 2-1 and about 10 mins to go you still could have tied it up. That 3rd goal was just plain ugly to watch. First the defender tries to beat 2 guys in his own end and get checked easily by the first. Then a good save is made and the 2 center backs look on and just watch the Mexican pot in the goal.

for those who are watching the videos, notice the time wasting and the flopping. the US refs makes BC refs look like stars. Apparently two foot tackles with cleats up is alright because that's how the latinos play said one ref. Shocking. Four officials per game and rarely a good call.
