This is a great hire. We will no longer have to listen to his commentary work on the PPV's and various things he did. I commend the Canucks organization for having the decency to get this guy off the airwaves.

If you've ever met the man, it is hard not to be impressed in his company. Great guy. Obviously he knows the game inside out, but in this role I see him thriving as a teacher and a mentor. I think he embodies the characteristics the new regim is looking for: integrity, intelligence, and accountability.

I have met before. I thought he was a good guy and Courtnall said he was super knowledgeable about the game. I was strictly commenting on his crap commentary and the fact he tends to hve a graham leggat inhake when something happens it seems.

On the drinking, I'll tell you this much...we (my wife and I, on her company excersion last year to DC) spend a couple of days in his company, from a ballroom environment, to a business environment, to a cocktail party. He even came w/ a group of us to a local pub during the 'Nucks / Dallas game 7, and we turned down the TV during intermission for Q&A, and heard some great stories. He was nothing but 1st class the whole time.

You would not have known he had a drinking problem then. He stuck to beer, and certainly handled himself well. If he does, it may be restricted to his personal life- but who are we to comment anyhow?

I did say "Obviously you were taking the piss". Meaning, no...wasn't looking for beef, just responding to a post that said, "the guy has a drinking problem."

I don't get gassed at work. Don't check in w/ me on the golf course, though.

Yeah...hockey players will be hockey players. Sort of like soccer players. I figure if Regs can run this site whilst living the life of a raging alcoholic / computer geek / gay porn star, Ryan Walter can be an effective ass. coach.
