| Member | Dickenson will play if he can. Yesterday, Printers hardly took any snaps in practice and when he did he didnt throw. Caught part of it when I was out Surrey way. Buck Pierce had a lot more first team action yesterday than the second guy (Casey) usually gets but Printers I gather had more reps on the first team with no Dickenson on Monday. Pierce got double duty as the 3rd guys runs the scout team and that is usually where he gets the majority of his reps in practice at the CFL level. Jarius Jackson at #4 gets even fewer but does get some. He tries to force too many passes into coverage where Pierce is more of a Dickenson type QB with a better sense of ball management even when running the scout team. When Pierce errs it is a pass too hard or like yesterday, one behind Thelwell across the middle on some new stuff. Jackson is like Printers - always trying for the spectacular. Jackson does have a strong arm and can get the odd 40-50 yarder running scout teams but that is not a way to impress Buono who prefers the Dickenson ball control way. Pierce seems to be looking to model his play on Dickenson which he should. This to me is the most talent laden Lions team I can recall with depth at all positions including running back with Eddy Linscombe still on the practice roster and he can play! Good receivers coming in with Tony Simmons down - Jerel Myers will be fine and also TJ Acree is being activated for Calgary game with Aaron Lockett done for a game at least. Lockett only plays on kick returns and I guess Myers and Geroy Simon and some Antonio Warren will pick up that slack. And our local SFU guy, Brett Anderson runs some pretty sound routes also and he can play. Therob is right about O'Mahony but only on his place kicking. He is erratic and for the life of me I don't understand why they don't have Lui work with this guy as he needs help on FGs real bag. If we ever need a short onside kick we are f..ked with this guy. He is has no idea how to hit a short ball and sort of just stabs weakly at it when he is doing that on his own. Buono doesn't do the trickery but you never know if you might need it. Braley is paying big Lu so why not get him some time on the practice field to work with O'Mahony? Not talked to Lui recently and then not about that, but I suspect that Wally is just not going to Lui as there is no holdover from former Lion teams in the coaching ranks and there won't be any either. Ok, James "Quick" Parker who is also on Lion's payroll did some coaching in training camp but that is not continuing now that the team is selected. Guest coaches are brought into to help work with the large numbers and run drills and evaluations, that is all. I think O'Mahony from what I saw yesterday changes his angle of approach to the ball when it is short vs long and that is likely why he misses the chip shot from 14 yards out. He also was going on with Printers about the spot on FGs and fussing about the holding with a number of snaps coming and him just overseeing Casey holding the ball. After this arrogant looking gong show he hit the next one so bad it hardly made the end zone and was about 4 feet lower the cross bar anyway. A brutal kick. My advice to him would be - just do your f..king job and forget the holder who has only to get the ball and laces away. But his punting is pretty good as they are not getting the great returns on him. If I had one wish, it'd be that Michael O'Shea had put his knee on his throat and not his chest to hold him down for some 30 seconds during and after that missed FG in the Toronto game!!!! Just kidding but he is some cocky hot dog this kicker. |

| Respect & Honour A Total Bastard | On Team 1040 yesterday, he said his problem on short chip shots was that he was trying to power it too much, kinda like a shot on goal in soccer. Whatever dude, you're not Macallum (sp?)! ![]()

| Kick'n it old school... A Total Bastard | O'Mahony(sp) is pure mince on field goals this year. I think he's short legging it. I also thought DD short armed all 422 yards he threw for last night, don't you walls? I missed the 4th quarter, my hookers and blow had shown up early, how did it get so close? I keep hearing about how well the secondary is playing yet teams sure seem to make it interesting late.

| Respect & Honour A Total Bastard | The cameras were on DD on the sideline late in the game when the defence was playing in a prevent... "Why the fcuk are we playing soft?!!?" Seems DD didn't like it either ![]()

| Member | knvb- that statement was made after one game, and i don't deny DD is the best(not only in the west)right now. everyone can't be expected to have lanky limbs like you !!! i'll have to make it out to some of your matches this year as i think you'll really step it up for me !! i think meeting me in person could really cap off your life, not just your day.for some reason we decide to put it in cruise control in the second half consistantly. got a little too close for comfort with the fumbled(but then recovered by hat-trick antonio warren) on-side kick at the end of the game. i too noticed dickenson's fire when in the prevent. havn't seen that much colour from him since i saw him in the province on the coaster with jason jordan! |
