Thumbs up Champions League 2008/2009

And it begins again...

Quote:
A total of 42 clubs from across Europe were included in the draw for the first two qualifying rounds of the continent's most prestigious club competition.

The first round features champion clubs from Europe's smallest national leagues, with the first leg held July 15-16 and the return matches scheduled for July 22-23. The winners will face teams from countries with a higher UEFA ranking in the second qualifying round starting a week later.
Early favourites?

Sounds good. I'll take Arsenal.

Let's make it a tenner because Celtic have never won an away CL game.

FC Barcelona will haopefully win the Champions League again. Once we've got rid of Riijkaard, Ronaldinho and soon Eto'o...

Not good I'd say.

0-0 At Ibrox with 3 minutes to go.

Brutal.

From the Beeb text, since the game was not televised anywhere in the world

FULL TIME: Rangers 0-0 FBK Kaunas. A very disappointing score for Walter Smith's men, who looked rusty and lacked imagination in the final third.
Bazza hurt, Laffetry hurt, Beasely hurt, Cuellar Hurt, nobody brought in to help aside from Velcika (Miller is a donkey and we all know it)

This is going to be a painful year...

FT Rangers 0 - 0 Kaunas

Not much to say really except that's too bad. Mind you, this is the route Walter Mourinho took to get the UEFA Cup final before being embarrassed by a team who could actually play football. I see another Artmedia exit coming up for 'the Gers'. That would be a shame.
