Default Coaches and Money Etc....

TTP Community,
some teams have coaches/managers, some do not, especially at d3 and d2 level ( I mean people that ONLY coach, not player/managers)

In all seriousness (feel free to TTP also) what percentage of the coaches/managers are paid and how much?

I have been half heartedly looking for a coach for our team (I know Div 3 - but we as a new team had to start somewhere) but it is seriously tough managing a 20+ man roster from either the sideline or central midfield...

It seems that nobody is interested untill you mention cash...

What are/is the going rate(s)?
does it matter what level you are playing at?
does it matter location?

I'm the boss, I need the info

Get parents to do it. Both our coaches have kids on the team. But realistically you'll probably know more about doing it than they will.

Uh huh...Ummmm....all of our players have gone through puberty/have moved out of the house/learned how to 'wipe our bums' and therefore don't really have parents that still come to watch games and/or take an interest

I mean someone who is not a player, but has played/knows the game.

A guy named Fraser from Walnut Grove will do it for unlimited Haggis & Scotch. Or so I've heard.

Hullllllloooooooo.

Ghouse.
Paging Ghouse.

We pay Kenno, Larry & Dave BIG money.
$50 GC each to the Keg at the Y/E wrap up.

Johnny:
In all seriousness it's stuff like that or 'gas money' usually.
Unless you're coaching a VMSL Premier team or a PCL team or somthing like that it's usually mice nuts.
Or, guys get 'compensated' by getting other gigs like coaching at a youth club if they coach the senior men's side as well.

The seller has his price and the purchaser has his price.

Good luck and I'm sure you'll find someone,

Do mice nuts currently piggyback on the US or Canuck greenback?

Yes, it makes a difference.

WVFC Masters charges Sir M to coach us. He also has to pay the ref out of his own pocket each week, he has to pay twice as much as everyone else for beer, he has to go buy boots for players when new ones are required and he has to give away $200 boots he wore once to a player in exchange for a pint (pretty good deal for Sir M, I must say). His contract is up at the end of this season, so sure hope he has a stronger agent to secure an equal if not worse compensation package than what is currently in place. Dickens has negotiated the last couple terms, so I am sure Sir M will be looking for an evening job as mall security if he plans to continue on with coaching next year.

Seriously,,find a former player who cant play due to injury or whatever (eats to much) and ask him to manage and make some subs,Thats a good start and it keeps someone who loves the game still in it.

are you kidding me? parents?

we've had our player/coach/manager running our team since the beginning about 4 years ago. it's a lot of work and the guys appreciate it, little different this season as he's out recovering from knee surgery.

that does tends to be the problem with most teams, it's hard to find a coach that can do a better job. who wants some bum running your team just for something to do? we're now in div.1 and still no coach...so good luck there buddy. maybe a parent will do you guys just fine.

They both can't play anymore so they come out and coach us, make our subs etc, what's wrong with that. When we were younger we've won provincials so they must be doing something right.

We managed to get someone involved with our u-21 team this year. He does a really good job and i only worry about the club and CAT teams. He works with Ajit Braich and offered to come and work with our young guys too. For him, i think it is nice to actually have a team to see all the time and be involved in instead of coaching in a big picture thing with the clubs he works with.

I play CAT when i need to and if i am playing i have the guys on the side figure it out for themselves so i can try and concentrate on only getting scored on 3 or 4 times. For our club games, i pretty much make athe decisions. This year we have had a plan in place for our games since the begininng and it seems to be working. It would be tough to bring someone from outside to run things, i , at least, have a knowledge of the egos and personalities involved and have figured out over the past few years who responds best to what. Some guys need ridiculing, some needs picking up, and if i have to i go off, which for me is very out of character so guys know something is wrong if i do. (like this past weekend. halftime talking to for the boys) I have a feeling that a lot of teams have guys like me who run things to a point.

as for pay, there is none. i enjoy it and while i wish i played every week, i realize that on a building the club basis, it is better for me to make sure the sidelines are run well and we have a direction and focus.

JAGS,

I have also given away 53 sets of shin pads in the last four years to players that forgot theirs at home.

And the recipient of the a/m Puma Kings for a pint deal, has played two games since 2005 due to (in no particular order) a pulled hammy, sore knee, bruised ego, sports groin, malaria, ankle, loss of core strength, and male menopause.

Sir M.

With 20+ guys on the sidelines you should be able to delegate to the guy with the least amount of time. Get the game running and let him make your subs, then depending on the score, sub yourself out and give him a run for the last 20.
