globeandmail.com: The naked man, the 18-wheeler and the threat to blow the bridge

and then there is this...
Naked man leads police on chase after stealing truck, coveralls

BC Civil Liberties and RCMP complaints division!?!? FFS!?!?

If anyone at all is upset about the 'Force' which police used to apprehend this wanker they should be jailed too!

Too many bleeding heart, left wing, granola munching, tree hugging, communist hippies in this city and province.

In honour of this dude getting hit by the K-9 SUV I think they should build another safe injection site.

Easy Johnny....

Don't let your red neck get any redder...

At no point in the article you quoted did either organization say anything negative about the procedure, nor did anyone except the reporter bring the idea up. What you have is nothing more than the Sun trying to sell papers by stirring the pot. Watch:

1. unusual situation - naked jackass steals truck, threatens to blow up bridge. Obviously off his meds.
2. Newspaper (like usual) gets scooped by TV station (and TBL who lives 3 minutes away and watches the news).
3. Newspaper editor pushes reporter to find "unique angle" on story by trying to generate controversy, because they know that getting a quote from the BCCLU will push your emotional buttons (and hopefully get you to buy the paper).

Now go finish your homework...

Trece

ya ya 3 minutes away watches news blah blah classic stuff. You are missing my point. Seen as you are an obtuse soccergeek, i'll let you in on it. I know that the farm called the police even before he left the lot with the stolen vehicle, they informed cops he had absolutely nothing ...not even a shirt. It was their empty truck with **** all in or on it. 8 minutes later when he was pulled over they would have known of this situation in detail. YET THEY LET HIM DRIVE 55 MINUTES PUTTING EVERYONE IN DANGER. Had you been the one driving yesterday having a semi truck veering in your direction, and finding out he was pulled over and they let him go, I think you would be singing a different tune today. From all accounts except for the royal coverup mounted police, this entire chase should never have happened.

Anyone else but me find it odd that he threatend to blow up a bridge while pulled over talking to officers? He made no threats at the farm. Did they guide him towards the mission bridge :

" well there fella the registration doesnt match your non existing license and the demolision of the pitt river bridge is about 16 months away, so if you could just head east with your bomb and heck we will even give you an escort there, and hey try not to veer off into oncoming traffic eh"

Hey maybe I'm seeing it wrong. This is my opinion. Now that fastshow is gone, no one agrees with me.

absolute classic stuff!

I really don't see what the whole hullaballoo is about? Did the mounties do everything right? maybe not. Did the end result justify the means? yup! I have no problem with the way the mounties executed this operation. At least they didn't taser him!

You had a point?

Cool, I get to be an obtuse soccergeek now. Whatever that's supposed to mean.

Get a police scanner Tim. You know you need to. Better yet, run for council in the Ridge and save the world. Your expertise is sorely needed...

All I know is that loser is very lucky that he jumped up off the ground just before he got hit or he would have a lovely pair of broken legs.

I forgot to ask........what were his injuries? I was too lazy to read the articles but he took quite a hit. The driver's timing was spectacular. To time it so he didn't actually run him over was nothing less than a breathtaking manuveur(sp? don't care I'm not French). Well done all around for a bit of entertainment. Fortunately, no one of significance was injured.

Nothing really. The cop got hurt jumping put of his truck after he hit the crack head.

The officer's car that got hit in the case came into my work yesterday and said the guy was soooo out to lunch either from drugs or from being a little lite in the noodle. The crack head was taken for psychiatric assessment yesterday afternoon.

Apparently his old boss said he isn't great at taking directions from people with authority

Well that explains what happened next after the cops pulled him over the first time and asked him to move the vehicle "over there a bit"
