It's weird how you look at things differently when you become a parent. My Wife and I were lucky to have our daughter born in July of 07, but what a learning experience it is... It is weird how you used to run down flights of stairs quickly, leave clothes irons plugged in, you yourself would do things at a million miles an hour, drive like you stole the car you are driving, road rage, etc etc etc... But when you become a parent how certainly you are very aware of everything you do with/around your kid, and the monkey see/monkey do quotient. That link is Scary stuff indeed. |

Just made a trip to Oregon this past summer - great coastline! It's a long way down on some of those cliffs. A couple of points that come to mind....who's running the Risk Management Dept. for Oregon Parks, and why would the parents allow three wee ones so close to the edge given the type of railing being offered. I was a shadow to my girls when they were that age. I know it was a harmless photo op but nonetheless - safety first. As a parent you'd never forgive yourself if that ended differently. |

I agree, my wife and i have different levels of protection. My oldest fell down our 13 stairs holding the laundry basket. Luckily no damage , just scared the shit out of her. Ever since then if they get near the top of stairs and arent' paying attention i have to say something. Now i'm way to cautious where as the wife isn't. PS: please don't call Child Services on us, and if you work at Child Services, this is all a lie, i made it up to keep the thread alive. Honest! |
