New TTP Monthly Contest Announcement

Starting August 1, 2009 we'll be running a monthly contest here based on TTP Bookie Events and Token totals.

The gist of it is as follows:

Each month, all TTP accounts will start with 1,000 Tokens.

These starting tokens are to be used to bet on various TTP Bookie Events set up throughout that month.

At the end of the month, the top 3 Premium Members will win prizes. (this will be monitored in such a way that you need to be a premium member for a minimum of 15 days within that month in order to be eligible). The top 25 for that month will then be recorded and the next monthly contest will begin with everyone set to 1000 Tokens again.

In order to keep things as fair as possible, we are going to try and give as much time as possible to get your bets in on new events. Here is what I proposed to the team here:

(1) if possible, we will strive for 24 hours that an event is open
(2) at a minimum, events setup on weekdays that close that same day must be started before Noon Pacific and must be open for a minimum 4 hours - for weekend days, 24 hours is the rule.

Because Bookie events are not contained in a single forum here on TTP, everyone is encouraged to use the Bookie Home in order to find open events to bet on:

You will find this linked under the site main menu Community drop-down.

For the next month, we will run in trial mode so that everyone can get into the groove so-to-speak.

During this time, I'll be adding a proper "home" for all this info as well as updating what the prizes are going to be. I've also recorded the Top 25 of alltime up until today and will post that up time permitting.

This includes adding more info about being a Premium Member here and how to go about it.

I should also add that there is a maximum bet limit of 500 tokens so at a minimum, everyone should be able to bet on 2 events per month - I suggest not max betting to start out a month until you get some wins and build up a cushion.

Yes, in a couple of places in fact (but will only show top 25).

Place #1: In your UserCp area look down the left-hand menu and you will see 2 links related to Tokens - the first link is the one you want (it won't really mean anything until after a couple of days and people start getting some wins pushing their total past 1,000). BTW, if we have a collectively shite month of betting, and no one who "plays" ends up with over 1,000 - no one will win anything. Fair?

Have a 5-10 bet minimum before a person can be included on the top 25?

We'll see how it goes for the next month trial run - I think if that as long as a person makes a single bet in a month, they should show up in the Top 25. Requiring 5-10 bets would perhaps place too many restrictions on the contest.

Seems fair enough......but CDK is on the top 25 and I don't think he has posted since 2001........

The bolded bit is the key part... if less than 25 people have over $1000, posters who haven't made a bet will show in the top 25.

Here's an idea to throw out there:

Should we have charity additions after say 2 weeks? EVERYONE gets an additional $200 tokens half-way through the month (this is more for the people that blow the first $1000 in the first 2 weeks and have nothing left for the final couple of weeks of the month.
