[question] What is sorely lacking here?

Looking for thoughts/ideas/suggestions from TTPers on what they feel is needed here on TTP... better organisation? more constructive topics relating to soccer in the lower mainland/BC? more features not related to the forums? better navigation?

How about a forum for Metro teams to post on? I help coach a U-18 boys team and all the players use "Messenger" to TTP back and forth. Have you ever tried such a forum? I know you have a Metro Results forum where most coaches post, but something for the players would be good too.

Never tried it as I wasn't too sure if TTP would be ideal for youth? I'm willing to give it a go but I don't know really where to begin as I'm too far removed right now from the youth scene...

Should the forum be under Vancouver? BC? What to call it? Youth Soccer? Boys Metro? U18/U16?

The boys are always talking about how they chat on Messenger with other friends on other teams. We've tried to tell them to go to TTP to try it out. Maybe if a forum is made they'll show some interest? Mind you....I could see with some of these nugguts a moderator could be very busy

Unlike other certain organisations in the lower mainland that most of us are familar with, we do listen to your feedback and encourage it

Perhaps I should start using the announcement feature more? That may work a bit better I think.

The one thing that seems to have gone away from this site is the true piss taking that people would have at each other. People are worried about providing motivation to other teams and hold back on their piss taking.

My suggestion would be to decrease the amount of threads that are started. There are too many obscure threads that take up time reading and by the time we are finished we don't bother posting any replies.

Firstly, thanks for the feedback, it's appreciated from such an esteemed Idiot such as yourself

It's a catch 22, really. Some people don't want to be bothered with some of the banter that takes place, while others live for it. Thus you need to make sure to guide people to different threads in order to have a happy medium.

What we've tried to do is make sure that key threads on these forums have good, descriptive titles such that for TTPers using the "get new posts" feature, they can see which areas of most interest are updated... I suppose I should go through everything again because there are a few holes [such as the FVSL and VMSL forums both having sub-forums called Premier, etc.]

As for TTPers shying away from true piss-taking - I agree to a certain extent, but what can we really do? The VMSL premier forums have always been that way, as are the VMSL div 1 teams... only in the lower divisions to you see some TTPers popping off at each other. I have no idea why this is so? I've seen some recent posts in the FVSL forums where someone did have a go at a team before they played them and then got stuffed... the other team came on afterwards and spewed on about giving them motivation - It's the fricken premier division and they are getting their motivation from TTP posts?

I'll have to give it more thought on how to get that "edge" back on TTP w/o upsetting the whole apple cart... perhaps you can start by telling your Idiot teammates to start slagging Niall Thompson of Firemen on here - he's an easy target, believe me

I'd still like to see some kind of read/not read flag on posts/threads. The 'posts since you last logged on' works OK, but if you're not on for a day or two and a hundred posts pile up, they can't be read at one sitting. Currently, you might read for 5 minutes, and when you come back later, you lose all the info and there's a whole bunch of posts that may completely pass you by.

The system in place with the old software (circa OTB) worked quite well, but don't think the vBulletin software handles it very efficiently.

My two cents worth.

A federal judge ruled Friday that Southwest Airlines does not have to revamp its Web site to make it more accessible to the blind.
In the first case of its kind, U.S. District Judge Patricia Seitz said the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) applies only to physical spaces, such as restaurants and movie theaters, and not to the Internet.

"To expand the ADA to cover 'virtual' spaces would be to create new rights without well-defined standards," Seitz wrote in a 12-page opinion dismissing the case. "The plain and unambiguous language of the statute and relevant regulations does not include Internet Web sites."

If Southwest had lost this case, and the decision had been upheld on appeal, the outcome would have had far-reaching effects by imposing broad new requirements on companies hoping to do business online.

Having spent my lunch wading through the old offtheball.com forum (you selfish cnuts sleep all day so I have no one to entertain me in the future where I currently reside), it has to be said that people should sign up as paid-up members of www.takethepiss.com if only to read a little bit of history. Back in those halcyon days we were all more serious yet, seemingly, funnier at the same time. Oh happy times. What happened to Owl, Reedie and the other funny sorts who no longer post? Even Jinky was funny back then.

And another thing, back in the halcyon days of yore when we'd change our signature the old one would stick to the posts that had already been submitted using that witicism. Now changing the signature line incurs wholesale changes to every post ever written. I'd rather axe the dancing whateverthefcuktheyare and have that back. But what do I know? Back in the day you could even say f u c k without fear of reprisal too.
