I can't keep up with the changes. I don't mind (too much) that the Article Bot shows up in the "new posts since you last visited" box, but I'd prefer if they didn't show up in the "10 most recent" posts on the home page unless someone has actually replied to the news article.

This fcuking Article Bot **** is annoying and takes away from such quality threads as the Scottish Premier League. Seriously, the amount of articles is ridiculous. Could we please get rid of the fcuker. I just sent him a PM. When articles are posted periodically, they're more likely to be read. With this much being posted, there is more chance they will be ignored, and there might even be a decent one in there. Anyway, fcuk the Article Bot.

I was going to apologise for testing this out live but why bother?

In any event, I've adjusted a few things so that it posts only 3 articles from each feed every 6 hours or so.

That should be better. The problem with this will be the lack of responses to the articles. If the site is looking for more responses to the articles, there definitely needs to be less.......Let's see what happens.....

Hey Regs, now that we have the article bot can we get The Moderator Bot as well? Let's go to strictly Robots running this site. TheRob could be TheRobot, KNVB could be Electric CNUT and so on.

Nice one

Apparently we had a moderator bot early this morning

Perhaps there is a way around the article bot "upsetting" a few people who can't ignore the threads in the new posts search (I thought they were labelled pretty good for people to be able to tell what threads were posted by the bot)...

I could set up a forum that all bot postings were made. This forum would ONLY be accessible by TTPers belonging to a new usergroup(s)... thus the "new posts" would not show up in the search for those not belonging to the usergroup(s) with access.

The usergroups would be free to join through your User Control Panel.

Personally, I like the bots because it was a way for me to see the sports headlines without having to go to several other sites.

Another solution would be to have the bot only post into the hidden moderator forums and then have moderators move the ones that they think would be of interest into the appropriate regular forum and add a post with their own thoughts/piss-take.

Cheers,

~Regs.

I had an electronic cnut...but found after it went into the shop for service it just wasn't the same. Don't get me wrong it was fun while it lasted but had it been able to stand up to all the wear and tear it would still be a bed side staple, but now that's it's gone there is simply no substitute for the real thing.

Even if I only get to use it once a year now.

At first I was pissed off at Article Bot, I was like, why does Sensei Hansen get a second username and I can’t have one? I was relieved hear it was a service and not a case of TTP favouritism.

You should not be pissed off at the Article Bot, Beak. Not only does he/she/it (?!) have a cool name but it is Sensei's fight and not yours. Like Gary Kasparov versus Big Blue or that fcuking guy from that fcuking show versus that fcuking computer from the same fcuking show. Or HoS verus his alternate personality, Martha Stewart. We all have our own demons to slay. Too bad for Sensei his is the Terminator.

The article bot is gay.... and I don't mean homosexual. All the posts from "it" should go into one thread, so people can browse the new posts without having to scan through three pages of "bot-threads" to find their threads.

What do you mean by "their threads"? You mean threads that a TTPer like to follow? Kinda like a "My Favourites"?

If so, you can do that now... subscribe to your favourite forums/threads (you can set whether or not if you want to be notified by email when a new post in these areas happen)... then to "track" them whenever you return to TTP, instead of immediately clicking on the "new posts" link, go into your user CP... your 'subscribed' threads should be all listed there that have been updated... you can even created folders to put your subscriptions into to help organise them better. (you can also click on the 'quick links' and select 'subscribed threads' from any forums page navbar)

Anyways, that's just a helpful tip to get more out of your TTP experience here.

Keep the moans coming, it helps seperate the men from the boys here on TTP
