[FVSL Div. 2] Banter and results - January 2007

OK, here it is. 2 days late but better late than never.

We're on to a new year and the second half of the season.

Best of Luck to all and see you on the pitch.

MOTW threads will get going soon as games are back on this weekend, assuming the weather holds out.

Anyone have any predictions for the second half? or signings? Heck even mindless drivel would be good.

Tigers 1 - 1 Magpies

Shitty night out in the wind and rain on Friday. I couldn't believe the game wasn't cancelled.

They scored late in the first. We scored early in the second. Both goals with the wind. Go figure.

I get the impression these guys thought they were going to walk through Div. 2 no problems.

ND Titans 1 - 1 WRU

Titans controlled the first 30mins, long layoff showing up on our play - don't think we strung a pass together. Started to come into the game for the last 15mins of the half.

Poor finishing on the Titans' part kept the game 0-0 at the break.

2nd half was more evenly contested. Titans' took the lead courtesy of a penalty with about 10 to go. We pulled level from a corner 5mins later. Both sides had a go for the last 5, but time ran out on a winner.

Good to get the rust off the legs, on to DMU next week & a rematch against Shaven's crew.

Grove 6 Rams 1

Had to shake the rust off in the first half came out with a 2-1 score... second half completely different story with the keeper pretty much having enough by the end of the game - Overall the rams were a pretty classy team... except maybe you should teach #8 how to count - He probably shouldn't trash talk from the SIDELINES when at the time the score 4-1....

ACBC 3- DFC Celtic 3

We got a point from a game we probably should have lost. A team who hasn't done anything in a month vs a young skilled team who look like they've been playing/training indoors for the past month.

ACBC went up 1-0 in the first half. We tied it early in the 2nd, then the flags scored two beauty goals to go up 3-1. We started pushing players up. Scored one directly off a corner kick and then scored off a scrambled play in the last minute of the game to tie it up.

I predict these guys are going to be racking up the points in the 2nd half of the season. They've got some very skilled players.

We definately didn't deserve anything from that game.
They beat us to everything but instead of playing defensively and holding the lead, they pushed for more and it bit them in the ass.
I'm damn glad we don't have to play those guys again!

I agree we were lucky to get any points from this game. They are a decent team but they need to forgot about the posing and worry about winning. I am not sure if they got cocky but after getting the lead guys were rolling around on the ground and pissing around like it was a summer league game. If these guys ever get out of Div 2 and play the same way guys will get put in their place quickly for all the bullshit.

They scored (2) beauties. The did stick to the outside a lot and just shoot. If they used their skill more in the 'Red Zone' they could be scary.

No practicees just less turkey as most of our guys dont take part in Xnas,,lol,,,great game though,,and your right we should have tightened up the D instead of pushing near the end,,That was the plan but your right again,,the young guys just wouldnt hang back,,it was very frustrating to say the least...Oh well we still have a shot at the cup so I hope we can learn from our mistakes in time for the Grove cause I heard they are a very good team. It was a super good game to watch,and we look forward to many more.
