Thumbs up FVSL Premier Week #8 MOTW

Week #8 games just a few days away. A couple definite candidates for MOTW honours this week. Which do you think it is?

GEU vs ND Lions (Fri. 7:30pm, Albion)

A year ago this would have been a no-brainer, but now it's a tough one to call! GEU seem to be folding the tents up before November arrives. Millsy is seeing bouncing baby boys and girls as opposed to the ball!, Sully plays more positions than a Surrey girl on welfare Wednesday!, and even the bald guys don't seem as bald to me anymore!! The Lions are now a team that most underestimate. Could this provide the edge they need to sneak 3 points?

Chilliwack vs Poco (Fri. 8:00pm, Exhibition Pk.)

Most weeks I prefer to let my opinion go silent on the MOTW, but this week there's no doubt about it in my mind. The league's most potent offense (22 goals for) versus the league's stingiest defence! Poco seems to be finding their stride now, and with only 3 goals against in 6 games, look impressive. Chilliwack coming off a lack-lustre performance at Mackie park last weekend will be looking to get their guns firing again.

GN Sport vs PAU Fri. 9:00pm, Mackie Pk.)

GN, coming off back-to-back 5 - nil losses, seem to be watching the wheels come off their cart! However, having PAU on their schedule in previous years has often payed off in spades. This could be the match they need to get back some confidence, and get back to their winning ways. (I doubt it )

SUFC vs Langley (Sat. 6:00pm, Newton Ath.)

The only undefeated team in the Valley seems poised to carry that distinguished honour yet another week further, as they have the lowly Sikhs on their slate this weekend. SUFC seem to be battling the relegation animal along with the Lions, and would gain much in the standings, as well as in confidence with a win against the high flying REDS.

Whalley vs Delta Metro (Sun. 2:15pm, AHP Matthews)

Whalley will be pleased with their effort last weekend vs PAU, and will look to build upon it against Crafty's Blues. A win for Whalley would keep them out of the relagation zone, while a win for Delta would put them within striking distance of the top teams.

Let'er rip boys!.....

~Skip

Previous MOTW honours:

#1 Poco vs Delta Metro
#2 Langley vs Poco
#3 PAU vs Langley
#4 GEU vs Poco
#5 Langley vs Chilliwack
#6 Chilliwack vs GN Sport
#7 Langley vs GEU

Default Re: FVSL Premier Week #8 MOTW

Some good games for this coming weekend.

GEU v. ND LIONS
GEU with only two wins out of seven must get back on track this weekend. They are not the team they were last year and other than the Sikh's, they have conceded the most goals against in the league. They need to play a solid game at the back and build from there. The Lions managed their first point of the season last week and may surprise the boys from the Ridge when they visit Albion on Friday.

CHILLIWACK v. POCO
Chilliwack will be looking to redeem themselves this week after dropping two valuable points last week. They must play conservatively and pick their spots carefully against a Poco team that will catch them out if they use their usual 'Charge of the light brigade" tactical approach. Poco managed to put numbers on the board last week, but will find it very difficult to repeat against a team that as only let in 8 goals in 7 games. Should be a good match up with the score, if any, being close.

GN SPORT v. PAU
I will be taking this game in personally to watch GN for the first time this year. Advantage GN in this game because of the history, but they must bring their "A" game back to Mackie Park this week. If they don't, another five goals maybe served up by the Nation to the lads from GN for a third consecutive week. The rain expected this Friday may have factor in the outcome of this one.

SUFC v. LANGLEY FC
After playing the Sikh boys last week, I don't honestly see them ending Langley's unbeaten record just yet. Nothing would please me more, but Langley are finding a way to win and take valuable points every week and beating GEU last week will only help their confidence moving forward. Great job by all concerned at the club.

WHALLEY v. DELTA METRO
Our first look at the team that got promoted from last year, and by all acounts, a team that has strengthened the quality of the division. This will be a very hard game for us to win as we have a history of not being consistent when it really counts. 9 points from our last three games puts us in a good position to challenge the top teams once again. The question is, can we answer the bell.?

Cheers

GEU vs ND Lions...who's gonna show up? I'm picking the Golden EERS to take this one

SUFC vs Langley...Suck it Up Again Guys...want Langley to lose but it's not gonna happen this week.

Whalley vs Delta...Crafty, have your boys prepared for this one including ice packs and bandages Delta to win and Whalley to be pissed off again this week

Chilliwack vs POCO...long week of work and having to drive to the Wack for an 8 pm game. Chilli with a side of fries and a hot chocolate on this night
p.s. my match of the week

GN vs PAU...bad record for the nation. GN in a slump. Toss up on this night but hopefully PAU to prevail. Leaving this prediction open.

GEU vs ND Lions
GEU can't be as bad as their record or can they??? The Lions on the other hand are definately not as bad as their's, so should make for a close one
Personal pick = Lions
CHILLIWACK v. POCO
Chilly do not lose at home... nuff said!!!
Personal pick = Chilliwack
GN SPORT v. PAU
As previously mentioned, PAU traditionally have trouble with GN, however I won't bet the farm against us because of a yesterdays news!!! GN are struggling as of late and PAU are only getting stronger...
Personal MOTW = Peace Arch United
SUFC v. LANGLEY FC
Sikhs have no strengths and Langley are riding a high from back 2 back lack lustre wins... It's all about points that gain confidence...
Personal pick = Langley
WHALLEY v. DELTA METRO
The boys in the hood were a little unlucky last week to not get a point, but surging Delta with the re-signing of "Boy London" Burnsie up front will help them in attack... This could be a good battle all over the park???
Personal pick = Delta

Peace out

GEU vs ND Lions
I can't believe how many losses GEU have so far, the pressure is on them to win this one. The Lions on the other hand can play with nothing to lose... I'm calling a tie on this one.

CHILLIWACK v. POCO
This will either be a tight game, or really high-scoring... if Chilli score early, then POCO will have to open up and play end to end... and with Chilli's three man attack that could mean a bunch of goals. I'm calling a tie on this one too.

SUFC v. LANGLEY FC
Sikh United are not very good right now, and Langley has too much skill to lose this one. Langley in a walk.

WHALLEY v. DELTA METRO
Delta has been impressive lately, looks like Crafty has the boys playing together. Whalley impressed me this past weekend, but I don't think they'll beat a well organised Delta side. Delta by 2.

GN SPORT v. PAU
This is my MOTW. GN has played us tough over the years, so we're looking to end that trend this weekend. Look for a fired up and hungry PAU army this friday night...

GEU VS ND LIONS
My pick for this game is a draw. GEU have been very inconsistant and I dont see them taking maximum points off the Lions who should have much more confidance from lastweeks result.

CHILIWACK vs POCO
My pick is 3 points for the boys from chiliwack. They cant be held to 0 goals in two games with their potent attack thus far.

GN vs PAU
If it is true that the GN squad has lost two of there players then I will give the result to PAU with a narrow win 1-0

SUFC vs LANGLEY
With SUFC on home turf this game could be a high flying midfield battle with a 1-1 draw. Langley may still be undefeated.

WHALLEY vs DMU
Whalley have alot of talent to be kept winless for so long. DMU do have defensive problems that Whalley should easily exploit. 3 points will be going to Whalley this week.

GEU VS ND LIONS
Hungry hungry lions, we need points, word is GEU is struggling but this means nothing to us. If we don't come out flying we will fall.

CHILIWACK vs POCO
First I would like to apologize to POCO for us holding the Chilli boys scoreless cause you know their feet are burning to score some goals. At home too! You know what that means...good luck
Chilli to take it

GN vs PAU
GN got lucky i missed the game against those cnuts but PAU looking stronger these days with their mini army. GN sounds like they are in a slump and seem to be emotionally beat up losing two of their boys.
PAU to take it.

SUFC vs LANGLEY
SUFC is stronger now apparently but they lose to Langley for three reasons
1. Langley has still got a pair of horse shoes up their asses
2. I think Dino still has his braids in
3. We need them to lose so we can gain points on them.

WHALLEY vs DMU
I have always loved the storm they are like my family, but Craftys pretty boyz are afraid of the lashing they will recieve if they blow the little streak they have developed. DMU takes this one 3-1

Looks like a two horse race for the honours this week, as the PAU/GN game and Chilliwack/Poco game are tied. We need some more votes to decide the winner.

MOTW has to be pau - gn, given the history and the top of the table ramifications.

The game I would be most interested in watching would be the Whalley / Delta game but that's just not gonna happen after playing fri night and a team bash on sat.

there are more things in life than soccer and pints.
like going to home depot...

GEU vs LIONS
I think this will be a close one with GEU taking the edge 2-1.

WACK vs POCO
Poco has a history of being stingy until mid-season... then opening it up a bit. Prediction 4-2 Wack.

GN vs PAU
Forget history. PAU to bitch-slap GN 4-1.

SUFC vs LANGLEY
No contest. 4-bagel Langley.

WHALLEY vs DELTA
Our first look at the Storm. Tough to tell. Predicting a 3-2 victory for Delta... with the game being won by winning the battles in the middle of the park. Schultze to be the difference.

Personally, I prefer "Bed, Bath and Beyond"

On topic though, I've noticed some very influencial individuals have commented here, but failed to register a vote on the poll above (Crafty?, Aves?....and others??). Inquiring minds want to know officially....and we need to break the tie, and crown the weiner.....I mean winner.

Vote......Donkeyballs!

How can anybody take this poll seriously when you have votes like Knight Rhider's. Please, GEU v. ND Lions MOTW sort it out Mr. moderator.

Cheers

GEU/ND LIONS. Lions have to win eventually. Yes, GEU has been inconsistent, but they are better than their record. One big thing I noticed about them last week that has changed is their lack of punch up front. Other than the odd set piece and Martin's assist on their goal, they did not create much. Still tough as shite though. Lions, looks like they are in a battle with SU and will have to start thinking about relegation soon. ND by a goal somehow.

PAU and GN. My hope here is that the nation, god love them, only get half the monkey off their back, and we see a tie. Might try and make it out for this one. My brain says PAU though.

Delta/Whalley. Whalley starting to get a bit desperate perhaps, and it is unlikely Crafty's bunch go 4 weeks in a row without a stinker. Whalley to find a way to win.

POCO/Wack. Good defence usually beats a good offense. Only 3 goals against and 2 the first week, so 1 goal in 5 games. Stop the counterattack from Cam and the boys, and this one belongs to POCO.

Sikh to pummell Langley.

I voted for the Wack/POCO but after about 15 seconds i realized it should have been PAU/GN. I like the rivalries and history best. Good luck to all this weekend.

Thumbs up Re: FVSL Premier Week #8 MOTW

Skip: please correct poll for typo.

The MOTW is Peace Arch vs. Rangers...

GN vs. PAU gets my vote.
Why?

Please ensure all salt & pepper shakers are removed from the pitch to avoid conflict between Coops and Aves.

Mittens FC will be a handful on their home pitch as well as being humbled the last two weeks or so.
Sign of the times?
It is getting cold out these days.

Obvious honourable mentions go to Delta vs. Whalley & PoCo vs. Chilli.

Good luck this weekend boys,

RF

Hating will get you all no where. I agree Crafty I am pretty cool. So everyone wants to question my opinion? Wow, I feel honored personally i could give a rats ass if you guys agree. I have never been known to follow the crowd, i prefer to think for myself.

If you all must know why i voted as I did it is because i'm a self-centered bastard and a win for us means more to me then anything else in the league. So piss on you all

I know this post will be followed by a full definition of what MOTW is and blah blah blah, but you all can save it...not interested. Excuse me while i go vote for Bush in the election
