Default Agm 2006

I've heard through the grapevine that the AGM is coming up soon and there might be some changes in personnel and league ideas.

Since we know that the league reps, and anyone who's anyone, checks things on here to see what people are talking about, i figured we should have a thread to see what ideas, thoughts, complaints, etc., that people have and how things can be improved.

Please feel free to voice your ideas here so that when the time comes, your ideas can at least be addressed or discussed.
Remember, if you want changes they arent' going to happen without someone knowing what they are.

The All-Star program needs to be revamped.

RF
Chairman - 'Cormackhastogo' 2006 Campaign

I've never thought the CAT program has worked.
Let Premier teams draw from any team affiliated with them on any given match day.
Masters, Div. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 whatever.
If a side makes it to Premier and doesn't have reserves, then die if you can't get players into your club system.
And, possibly let the affiliated non-premier listed players play in the Pak as well as their own lower divisional respectful cups.

This will have every premier game at the best it can possibly be.

Opponents of this will be teams not within a strong club structure.

How can you do that? That's just uncalled for.

What's an old ma..............i mean senior union member to do?

Any thoughts on the new Div 1 Cup, from anyone who got out of the first round?

Thumbs down CAT system is useless

Bin it.
The CAT system (PDD) is an absolute joke... Not needed at all... Our premier team never brings up any CAT players, they are a fully functional seperate team with their own agenda... Thats how it should be (in Div.1)... They entered the PAK this year fully aware of their chances (unlike every other CAT team) and made a go of it losing in OT or shoot outs... Their league games should mean something to the coach and his players...
Go back to a Div.1 system we had in place back in the mid 90's...

Union's are for slack alice's like HOS.

Talking to some of the people that run the league they seem to have no real passion for the game. The way this league is going it will turn into a beer league.

i would suggest we hire a league administator. Take all the honorariums and pay an administator. From Aug to end of April. They can do all the leg work, work from a home office, from a cell, all they would need is a computer, and some experience. If we want to get new people into the executive ie... ex players, or managers, then we have to eliminate the administration work. The executive should make decisions and policies. The reason all the executive get elected by acclamation is because nobody else wants the hassle. The end result is refs scheduale eachother games, discipline eachother and us, run the league, and make policies. Some do a great job, some just do it for the pay.If Any of the executive are against an administator, i would suggest we then know what their motives are.
Thier are some outstanding candidates amongst us for an executive role, it is sad we can't afford to do it because of the shear amount of running around and answering phone calls etc...

Cainy,

That makes complete sense. And, you're bang on...it is the administrative side that discourages participation.

The hope is Kenny can continue to introduce new ideas, and help encourage fresh blood to step forward.

How much money does a league administator cost???. How much is the league exec's being paid now ???. Do they earn the money they are taking out of the league, is it a power thing or a money making thing, will they still get paid after the administator is hired.

i certainly don't begrudge them the money they get now, because they have a lot to do. If there was an admininistator they would have less to do, so we could reduce the amount they get to reflect the work they are doing.we wouldn't be saving any money just reallocating it. The reason for the suggestion is because we have lost some good people in the past and will continue to do so if they have too much on the plate. Also we may be forced to accept people whom we don't want because we don't have an alternative.

Really? Good suggestion. I heard it was already being discussed a few months back.

Anyhow it would make sense, its probably a 3/4 time job anyhow and you would lighten the load on all the Execs dramatically.

Bloody full time job just answering all the pathetic emails.

Here's something to discuss at the AGM... and it's not the first time it's been brought up:

Why would cards taken in the Pak cup make you sit in the BC's? First of all, two yellows= a match in the cup ir retarded. Then, if you make it to the final and get your second yellow, you get suspended in the BC's! What a stupid rule. The FVSL should make sure it gives the teams representing the FVSL every chance to do well... not hamper their efforts. The VMSL league apparently doesn't report all their cards from the cup run, or so I've heard.

Why don't they just wipe out the cards from the Pak run? The BC's is a new competition and has nothing to do with the Pak. In Europe, if you get sent off in your domestic league, you can still play in the Champions League, and vice versa. That's how they should have it here.

First off great avatar.

Second, you are 100% correct. From my understanding it is up to the league who gets reported to BC Soccer as holding a suspension going into provincials. If it is for accumalated cautions. However i think what the VMSL does is only report those that are suspended to to the reds, ie Jos S of Columbus.
Unless it is a hard and fast BCSA rule, which i really can't speak to as I simply don't know. accumalated cautions should be served in the the new season in September.

And everything Cainy said, I agree. It is a thankless job, I did it for a year, and would never consider it again unless the work load was signifiacantly less or I had tons of time open up in my life. what these guys do is for the most part very mundane repetitive tasks at the end of their busy days. Willing to bet that those inluding rob Brown and Neil fuge are somewhere south of $0.25/hour over the years.

All good ideas above... be interesting to see how these ideas could be implemented. Something I was thinking about at the end of our season was making teams more accountable to show up and play. We have had a few teams both PDD and Premiere forfeit games because of long drives, cold weather, no players and so on. I think at this level every team should be ready and eager to play. It also has a negative reflection on the league in the eyes of the community, teams, other leagues and so on when teams just do not show up.

Making more teams accountable for their scheduled games will hopefullly tighten up the league and force every team to battle week in and week out.

This might be just a CHWK issue because it is a really long way for teams to drive once a year. Curious to hear everyone's thoughts about the current fine system and what could be done differently in order to strengthen the league.

Anyway, carry on.

Mumms, i think it is a Chilliwack issue. Maybe if the visiting team could have a pint in the changeroom after the match without getting a $ 200.00 fine and a body cavity search it might help Also if you could arrange it with Dukes pub, have them make Fridays free cover if you have all your teeth and are under 300lbs night.

I think we are good hosts Cainy... yes, you did get a fine but we all have a pint before going to Dukes. The difference is we hide the beverage and don't lip off the parks board (story goes... someone had words for her when she asked everyone to leave and people were walking around outside with open beverages). Also, I believe last time you guys were out you drank most of your fine away at Dukes and put it on the Rapid's tab. It's all good but I think you should talk to Moe about the women, he looked like he was enjoying himself. Besides I thought you were into sheep now... baaaaa!

Lastly, when teams do not show up for scheduled games we don't have stories like this to share.
