Default Denmark 4 Engerland 1

sad result for the English in today's friendly with the Danes.

"FULL-TIME: England were completely out-played by Denmark, who were sharper in the tackle, more enthusiastic and determined, and thoroughly deserved their win."

match report ESPN

Svend's worst loss as Engerland's coach.

Never mind that.........the worst loss since 1980......... That's too bad because so many people have been touting them as possible World Cup winners. Nice one. Perhaps all the England believers should put money on Rangers to win the CL too. That would be a tidy double.

Beckham!!!!! jesus. England really need to ditch Sven. Captain Terry or Gerrard and demote Beckam to the bench.

If Cole, Lampard, and Wright-Phillips gel at Chelsea this season how could you not start them and Gerrard in Germany this summer.

I thought it was an OK game in the first half. At the break, Owen, Glen Johnson, and Carragher came on for Defoe, Neville and Terry respectively. David James came in as well and gave up 3goals in about seven minutes, after which Lampard was replaced by Hargreaves. England were terrible in the second half, and Demmark were impressive. Tomasson absolutely owned Carragher. James did nothing (except let in 4 goals) . I thought Joe Cole, Owen, Rio and Gerrard were pretty non-existent for them.

For 20 bucks on PPV you think Sentanta sports could show a hilite or something at half time other than the blank screen with the porno nmovie music playing, and maybe show the second half a little earlier than the 47 minute mark...

I'm not sure how they will match up against power house Brasil. On paper it looks like this is the right time for Eng to finally do something. with the balance of players they have either in their prime or close to it, one would suspect a more favorable result against the danes. I guess everyone has a bad game now and again...even celtic

Very true, Manager. Seriously though, do you really think England has the strikers to do the job? Personally, I think their goalkeeping is mince and the strikers just don't do a lot internationally. They rely heavily on their midfielders, who are good, bar the most overrated player in the world, Beckham. I just can't put them in the top teams in the world right now.....Brazil, Argentina, Czech Republic, Holland, and even Germany. I would take Italy over them too, and although France has struggled, I would probably put them over England too at this point...........Hell, Ireland would give them a run right now. As for Celtic, I don't think so........

England has the strikers to do some damamge and compete on paper...., but goals are scored on the pitch. The netminding situation is suspect, I agree. I guess the opportunity is there to do something if they so wish...if. It would be nice to see them get far and reestablish themselves as a top team.

It seems that the english team have fallen it to the same problem the italians had years ago, when they allowed to many for foreigners to play, which lowered the standard of the home players. Because the premeirship is the place to be, most of the good english players are playing in the lower divisons, because of the top 4 teams are buying players from other countries, the local talent doesn't get seen, there is barely a english player making the starting 11, on the top teams now.

Agreed. Chelsea can take a large blame in that. NOthing like having Wright-Phillips and Cole sitting on the bench. Also, having Owen doing nothing for Real does not help. HOw is it that Neville is still getting a spot? Is there no one to replace him??? Perhaps I am under rating him.

I believe SWP has a minor injury right now but will be starting once he's fit. As for Cole, who in their right mind would play him ahead of Robben or Duff, regardless of nationality?

No, there is no one to replace Neville. If he gets hurt England is in trouble at that position. Johnson is next in line? Scary.

As for Sven, could there be a more uninspiring manager around? Could there be anyone managing anywhere that is more predictable? No sleepless nights for opposing managers wondering what Sven might be up to, that's for sure. Unless of course they are also banging Sven's secretary. He has managed to get England a bit more organized over the last couple of years but he is absolutely done now. He picks the team only on reputation not performance and tactically he doesn't have a fcuking clue. What is plan B Sven? Is there a plan B? Sure doesn't look like it to me.

Midfield? The Gerrard/Fat Frank pairing doesn't seem to work. Both want to bomb forward (especially Lampard who doesn't even attempt to track back). Erickson is too scared not to start the two of them but its obvious that both are better with a holding midfielder behind them. So either change to a 3-5-2 and let them both go forward or put Carrick, Parker, somebody behind ONE of them. Beckham hasn't done shite in years, and is not deserving of a starting place nor the captaincy. Cole is absolutely not a winger, and never in a million years a left winger. Why has Stewart Downing not got a look over the last few friendlies. He's young, he's English, he runs at people and he puts in great crosses. Is there some other criteria for the LM spot that I'm missing? Oh, forgot, he doesn't hasn't acquired the prerequisite reputation! Sorry Sven, my mistake.

The strikers are allright, I think. Rooney is class and while Owen is not quite the player he used to be I still think he's quality. Defoe is a good back-up for Owen even if he is straight from The Shire with his height.

England have some very good players but with the system they have in place it is bye-bye in the quarterfinals of the WC once again.

My two cents.
