| Member | Do you think it will ever happen? I am a 16 year old girl, and play body contact with boys. I recently found out, there is no such thing as "girl body checking leagues". Do you think in the future girls will be incorporated into the NHL? Will there be a Womens body checking version of the NHL? Do you think it's wrong for girls to be playing hockey at all? Thanks for the responses, EebzZ

| Respect & Honour A Total Bastard | I don't think you will ever see women in the NHL. A 'version' of it just for women however will probably pop up sooner or later. But is there enough talent to form a league? Nothing wrong with girls playing hockey as long as there are no games on Thanksgiving. ![]() Welcome to TTP! Regs.

| King of the PK's and a A Better Bastard | I think there could be a league but fan support might be tough for owners to a stay a float...a good example is the WNBA were owners are losing huge cash each year. There is no promotion for the sport, it gets very little air time on television and when it does very low ratings occur. You never know now a days, WNHL could come at any time ![]()

I agree that it is probably very unlikely girls will ever play in the NHL, I also believe that if they started there own league, the talent being an issue, as well as the fact it would have to start all the way from the beginning would cause major problems, cash wise to keep them going. And I agree, no games on Thanksgiving!!!!!!!

| Member | I suppose if a young lady comes along that dominates every level she plays at growing up- with boys- there is a chance. That girl would have to climb the same career ladder as every other player, and overcome more scrutiny, but you never know. Nothing is impossible. Personally, I wouldn't bet on it... |

| Member | A distantly related thought occurred to me one day (I think there was substance abuse involved, but I digress): how about a mixed pairs ice skating couple where the (large, neck-optional, hammer-throwing, excellent skating) woman was the "thrower" and some little guy with insane athletic/tumbling/skating skills was the "throwee"? Could be interesting, eh? |

| Sad Bastard A Better Bastard | Rheaume was a pub stunt by Espo at the time, i'm not sure if he was trying to market the team or get in her pants, nonetheless she was like the third or fourth best femaile keeper from Canada at the time, as far as the girls go...couldn't even make the Womens Nat team If a chick was ever to play in the Show she would HAVE to be a keeper, as I'm sure 100% that No Female is naturally fast/strong enough to compete, especially over an 82 game season + pre-season+playoffs. So I surmise it would NEVER happen to be a female skater.Goalie, probably never. |

| Member | There was a girl goalie that cracked the roster for a WHL team a few years back. I think she only ever got like 20 seconds of ice time in a regular season game though. I agree that if it were to happen it would have to be a goalie. |
