Default World Junior Hockey Championships 2005/2006

THE best tourney in hockey gets started on Boxing Day. Canada takes on Finland in our own backyard. Anyone lucky enough to get tickets for any of the games? They sold out pretty quick.

Tri City Americans goaltender and Montreal Canadiens prospect Carey Price and Quebec Remparts forward Angelo Esposito were among the 12 players cut from Canada's entry for the 2006 World Junior Hockey Championship.

Other cuts include netminder Julien Ellis, defencemen Michael Funk, Marc Edouard Vlasic, Logan Stephenson, Jeff Schultz and Andy Rogers and forwards Devin Setoguchi, Kris Chucko, Derick Brassard and Bryan Little.

The final roster is now set for the 2006 World Junior Hockey Championship, with 22 players representing Canada.

Justin Pogge and Devan Dubnyk will take the spot in net with Pogge likely tagged as the starter.

The blueline will have skaters Cam Barker, Kris Russell, Luc Bourdon, Kris Letang, Marc Staal, Ryan Parent and Sasha Pokulok.

Kyle Chipchura, Blake Comeau, Dustin Boyd, Dave Bolland, Andrew Cogliano, Jonathan Toews, Dan Bertram, Guillaume Latendresse, Steve Downie, Tom Pyatt, Michael Blunden, Benoit Pouliot and Ryan O'Marra will represent Canada at forward.

Canada begins its gold medal defence at the tournament against Finland on Dec. 26.

Luckily I've managed to get two tickets to USA vs Canada and the 31st. Imagine ringing in the new year with another Canadian victory over the Yanks

Going to the games in Kamloops as my brother up there has tickets.

It'll be rough between all the trips to Sun Peaks....

Anyone watch the Canada-Czhek(sp) game last night? Either Canada isn't that good or the Chzeks are. I thought Canada would have slaughtered them. A win's a win though. Canada did pound the shit out of them. They are big. I think the shortest guy on the team is 5'10". They will be a physical force for sure.

Canada 8 - 1 Russia

Looks like this team is for real. They said that they would be offensively challenged. With eight goals against Russia, I think you can throw that theory out the window.

I can't wait until Boxing Day!

I had a girl take me to the US/Russia game, provide free box seats, and buy the first two rounds of beer. Not a bad deal really. Iron Mike Keenan, George McPhee and some other managers/scouts were seated in the first row below our box. Strangely enough Keenan had his wife with him. Bet she wasn't buying the beer. Honestly, do I have to show everyone how it is supposed to be done? Jeez.

YEAH!!!

GM Place won't see a period of hockey like the first again this year. Fcuking incredible.

The goal that didn't count for the Russians wouldn't have changed a thing.

I can't wait for the Olympics!

What I don't get is, why when the horn sounded did a bunch of the Russian kids start to cry. You've been down 3 for 2 fcuking periods lads you would have thought they had enough time to adjust.

Good win and a great crowd from what I caught on the Team 1040 and from the late night highlight package.

Disagree. At the point of the missed goal non-call, the score was only 2-0 in favor of Canada, with Russia holding an edge in play. A 2-1 game could very likely have been a momentum shifter.

I'm happy for the result, and the kids deserve it, but this year's gold is tainted.

I also disagree with the Non-Goal.... A 2-1 score would have russia playing a lil more tighter, than a 2-0 score.... but sometimes you get lucky and sometimes you don't.... Good game, looked like a good crowd. Good hitting, Malkin must have a headache this morning.

Don Taylor's comment or something like.... That's the most excitment GM place has seen in a while, now let's take a look at the struggling canucks who are in chicago.... or something like that.... i was laughing historically after he said that and missed half of it!!
