Default ScUm: The Frog Pond

Another tale concerning the inhabitants of a series of frog pond’s called ScUm and specifically about the fictitious inhabitants of the oldest pond.

From the same author of Strangerville. He certainly has some time on his hands.

Some of the characters would be:

Arty – the head frog – not often seen in the older ScUm frog pond but hops in now and then.

sTOMp - the grumpiest frog in the pond - usually surrounded by a group of toads with Arty watching his back.

Weeder – The older pond’s leader – usually found lurking in the bull rushes smoking and drinking pond water latte’s

Whiny – a horny backed toad – Weeder’s henchman

Grand Tete – known for his ability to swell his body and especially his head to abnormal sizes when mating.

Homer – a troublesome, wayward toad who often gets himself and others in difficult predicaments

Chicken Legs – this dim witted character likes to think his name comes from his physical stature and not for his penchant for writing anonymous letters to the Editor

Some potential future plot lines:

1)The inhabitants of Strangerville have decided to raise their game and instead of hunting tadpoles, they promote themselves, and start hunting frogs. However, the frogs as old and weathered as they look, are hard to catch, so they key on the oldest and weakest frogs, especially the rarest species know as Bonatoads. Ahh to catch a Bonatoad. What a prize!

2)On a trip to a far away pond, a rare Southern Hemisphere species of toad called “idigfatfrogs” keeps the other frogs awake each night with his constant croaking.

3)Some Superfrogs from another pond beat up Grand Tete. Grand Tete’s little brother, Willy intervenes; Whiny reacts by banishing Willy from the ScUm frog pond.

4)However the first story in the series will be an “Aesop’s like fable”. Its message will “think before you speak”. It is perhaps a fine example of the adage “foot in beak disease”.

The story line will go something like this:

The hairy backed toad named Homer takes a break from the series of poems he is writing, “The Lilipad” and posts an anonymous letter on a frog bulletin board. As a result an irate group of Superfrogs kidnap Chicken Legs. In the last scene –under a sign that reads “Today’s special: Chicken burgers” – Chicken Legs is seen spinning on a rotisserie crying “I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry”.
