Thumbs up 2006 Winter Olympics - CBC vs NBC coverage

I was looking up the CBC schedule via google and stumbled across this little beauty... It turns out Americans aren't so ignorant and actually respect us Canucks!!!

Thank you for addressing the lackluster American coverage of the Olympics, a trend towards mediocrity that has been going on for years. Most people I talk too discovered several Olympics ago that if we want decent coverage of diverse sports, countries, and athletes, we should tune into Canadian coverage. American coverage focuses on too few sports, panders with maudlin "Golden Moments" designed to tug at our heart strings, and usually wraps with ludicrous interviews positing that athletes should be disappointed with anything less than a gold medal. Our neighbors to the north are worth emulating - most of us tune in to the Olympics to watch sports, not soap operas, and to celebrate the diversity of competition we don't usually get the chance to see in the States.

That is just one example... Check out this http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/htm...esponse17.html

Maybe this is why:
Quote:
Bryant Gumble - "Finally, tonight, the Winter Games. Count me among those who don’t like them and won’t watch them ... Because they’re so trying, maybe over the next three weeks we should all try too. Like, try not to be incredulous when someone attempts to link these games to those of the ancient Greeks who never heard of skating or skiing. So try not to laugh when someone says these are the world’s greatest athletes, despite a paucity of blacks that makes the Winter Games look like a GOP convention. Try not to point out that something’s not really a sport if a pseudo-athlete waits in what’s called a kiss-and-cry area, while some panel of subjective judges decides who won ... So if only to hasten the arrival of the day they’re done, when we can move on to March Madness — for God’s sake, let the games begin."
What a loser.

Bryant's just ticked because he didn't get to go to Italy...

He has about as much credibility as most of the knobs on American sports networks flapping their gums about sports they've never been involved in - none.

Easy on the kudos for the MotherCorp - you'll make colemanJ's heed swell up even more than it already has.
