Default Extreme Sports

Well, Summer is here (almost)!

I don’t know about all the other TTPers out there, but at this time of the year, I like to take a step back from soccer to let the wounds heal, and enjoy the fabulous outdoors BC has to offer.

These threads call out to all the other adrenaline junkies. Whatever your extreme sport fix may be (Mountain Biking, Snowboarding, Skydiving, Motor cross, Kayaking, White Water Rafting, Multi-Sport Events…), post your stories or photos here!

Dude.

Thumbs up Rock Climbing

How many will be heading up to Squamish to attack The Chief?

TheRob, after a winter of climbing indoors, is very excited about this spring, and can't wait to get up there and climb outdoors for a change. I was out at Lighthouse Park a few weeks ago doing some bouldering, and I seriously need to get outside onto some real rock.

Anyone else on TTP climb?

Thumbs up

Good sport!

I've tried it, but never really got into it. I think it is a little too quiet and slow moving for me...but the danger element is certainly there. It also seems to be really peacefull...kind of Zen like.

I'd do it again though. Do you compete, TheRob? Ever thought of entering a competition?

Thumbs up Endo's and Face Plants.

I'm big into flying down the steep hills of the North Delta water shed and having my new bike fall on my head. Not quite an extreme sport, but a fun non soccer related outdoor activity non the less.

You gotta get out of the water shed. SFU is a good training ground for new riders. If you really want, I'll take you there one day.

BTW, I've created a thread for this: Freeride / Downhill.

Question Why?

What's wrong with the water shed? I've also landed on my head in Whistler a number of times. Now there is a cool place to ride. Logistics keep my time limited, but whenever I get the chance, that's the best place to lose skin.

The Water Shed has very little downhill, and too much back tracking. SFU is a decent run, with some good variety on difficulty. The water shed just...sucks. Trust me...

Get a ticket for the Bike Park @ Whistler. While you're at it, get some leg & elbow armour. Will make your life a lot easier, and your balls 4x bigger.

Wink aussie rules now extreme sport

clearly normally it doesnt belong here but i figured this was funny and a good place to put it.

a player was cited for biting the testicles of another player. check it out:

Former Sydney rover Peter Filandia has been suspended for ten matches for biting the testicles of an opponent in an incident which had done “untold damage to the game”.

Filandia, now playing with and assistant coach of Port Melbourne in the VFL, pleaded guilty to biting the testicles of Springvale’s Chad Davis – who is an AFL listed player with St Kilda.

However the 31-year-old, who played 83 AFL games with Essendon and Sydney between 1993 and 2000, said he bit Davis only under provocation because the Springvale player had his legs wrapped around his head.

“I couldn’t breathe so I panicked and bit the player’s shorts,” he said. “I wasn’t sure what I bit and obviously I don’t condone what I did and I know it was wrong.”

“But there were circumstances that caused me to react in that irrational way.”

The VFL tribunal took 40 minutes to decide a penalty for Filandia and in handing it down, chairman Eddie Power condemned the former Sydney rover’s actions.

“You’re actions have done untold damage to the game of football which we are all trying to promote,” Power said to Filandia.

“You can play again this year but this is something that is going to take you a long time to live down and you are going to have to work at it.”

Power also told Filandia, who could be forced into an early retirement as a result of tonight’s suspension, he could not play again until he met with a VFL player welfare specialist.

Outside the hearing Filandia again apologised to Davis as he did inside the hearing – when the pair sat opposite each other while giving evidence.

“I offer my deepest apologies and remorse to all concerned, primarily to Chad Davis and the Springvale Football Club and the VFL,” Filandia said.

“I know that what occurred was wrong and I must pay the penalty for it.”

“But the incident was in no way pre-mediated or malicious, it was a split-second decision I made in a state of panic to release his grip around my neck and mouth.”

However earlier inside the hearing Davis, who has played 22 games with St Kilda, denied he had Filandia’s head locked between his legs although he did admit to “squeezing his body with my legs.”

Davis said he felt a “sharp pain” to his groin area and added “that at no stage did I give him any reason to bite me on the testicles”.

Thumbs up good one, Keeps!!!

Now that's the real reason that I married a waterpolo player....
(that and the fact that Pacific Nationals were held in Berkeley every year.....)

Oh yeah - something about SFU's women's Varsity team (maybe because the average age of the players was 19?)

"Travel to exciting, exotic foreign places.
Sample exciting, exotic foreign cultures.
Meet exciting, exotic foreign people
And drown them."

(or rip off their bathing suits when they're playing hole)

Piece,

Stew Does physio count as an extreme sport? I've been doing a lot of it lately....
