| Member | What are your thoughts on this? Personally, I think inukshuks are pretty cool. It's interesting to see them around when hiking and such, but what in the world do they have to do with Vancouver and BC? I like the logo quite a bit. I just don't think it fits here. Thoughts? |

| Member | simply put, I don't like it! Do you want that weird stone looking guy on all of your roots attire. Hell no! It has nothing to do with Vancouver, they could of atleast had the guy smoking a fatty, that would be much more vancouver. I think it looks childish. My 2 cents |

| Member | its a simple logo, but not a good one. it just does not have enough to do with the west coast. i think the head office guys dropped the ball on this one as it has pissed off local native groups quite a bit. they have been exceptionally supportive of the bid and a logo more along the lines of haidi or coast salish art would have been much more appropriate |

I'm not a fan of the logo, but it is different from typical Native art that can be found (and more importantly sold unlicensed) in any gift shop downtown. I'm sure that had something to do with the decision. Me personally, I like the Canucks old logo circa 1983-96. The skate is very wintery and the orange, black, gold and red is a very rare colour combination, not likely to be copied by anyone. ![]()

I'm not saying they do, but with the obvious nature of the logo, the fact that it is not of a local origin or inspiration is where I am coming from. The platform for the nomination was strongly tied to local native groups and their participation was part of the presentation to the IOC, if I am not mistaken. It is from this perspective that I am coming from, if it is to be a native-inspired design then it should be reflective and an homage to the first nation's groups of the region.

A sketch of Luna the killer whale would have been a, er, killer logo. She/he (?) drinks beer, headbutts boats, eats potato chips and could consume a whole seal in seconds if she wanted. Probably smokes the herb too. And it's all inspired by the native community as well. What a great ambassador she/he (?!) could be. Like HoS but with flippers and big fcuk-off teeth.

| Member | How about this as an idea... Who cares what native symbol they have?! Not like all that tax they aren't paying is funding the whole damn thing. Exceptionally supportive... REALLY?! what have they done? Agreed not to fukcing shut the thing down with another protest? They are supporting it so they can gain exposure and have us build native cultural center type buildings. Which is fine. I personally think that they are great(the native cultural buildings) but it's hard to properly illustrate a guy in a power boat armed with a massive harpoon blasting a whale in traditional methods while incorporating all the colours of the rings! It's a cool symbol on it's own. Canoes are summer olympics and we use the stupid whale for pretty much EVERYTHING else. It's getting old really. This is supposed to be something new. Maybe it could have been a clearcut forrest or possibly a hospital bed but I think that a Symbol of a native standing in the road, be it a beacon of friendship (as per the things name) or a giant roadblock, is fairly accurate to west coast life. Maybe they could add a car smashing into the statue during a road race and make everyone feel like vancouver is being better represented. That or make it lay down and have a needle stuck in it's arm. In all honesty... it's probably the best choice for this region cause it gives us all the opportunity to do what we west coasters do best. Complain. |

| Member | I say fcuk em all. You can't make everyone happy so why worry about what these guys say they wanted? I think a simple answer to all of this would have been to ERECT a statue of Chuck from Langley and maybe Dude walking hand and hand along the sea wall? Do Indians like same sex marriages? |
