They have more strikers than you could shake a stick at, even though they are all dross for the most part.

They have wingers, although they are all made of glass

They are very slim (except Charlie Adam ) in Central Midfield

And ok at the back, except for Dodgy Kirk Bigfoot.

any combination, save Etuhu, would have been great...Instead they (Smith, Bain, Murray) sit on their wallet when it comes to addressing real needs (Club really needed 1 central defender-bought Bougherra, and 1 central midfielder maybe 2) and bought 3 strikers instead along with bougherra.
