Default Shemsta's Looking For A Team: No, Really.

Shemsta is new to Vancouver and he's wondering if there's a team that's in need of a player. Or a sub.

He's in good shape and would prefer to get on a team that plays on the weekends (Div. 3 or Seniors) if possible. It's getting close to season time and he still hasn't found a club to play with. Perhaps you know of a club that was short players last season and that could use a good mid-fielder (for a Div 3 team). Or perhaps you don't.

Any help you could give him would really be appreciated. Feel free to reply in any one of the 34 threads he's already posted in.

Thanks.

That's the funniest thing you've ever posted...

Must be time for Jinky to come out of retirement now.

Keeper, are you SURE that Shemsta really wants to play this summer, and he's not just having us all on? He didn't really sound too sure to me...

I'm not sure what the big joke is "mr Keeper" I'm new to the city and i really would like to find a team to play on. Posting on as many boards as I can, is the only shot I have trying to get on a team with the season approaching. Every league I've played in always has teams that never have enough guys showing up or something, and there's nothing more frustrating than giving up precious time that you could be spending with your familiy ,on the weekend or after work, to go to a game, only to have it called off because of not enough players. I know there are teams like that, I at the end of the day i really want to play.....so shut it!

What makes you think there's a joke involved, Shemsta? Quite simply, I can sense your real desire to find a team to play for, so I thought another announcement on your behalf might just be the ticket to get you hooked up with another team.

I didn't think you posted enough messages to get your point across, so I thought I'd help you out. Where's the harm in that?

Any bites yet? If not, may you should start another thread.

Shemsta:

If you didn't realize it, Keeper reacted in keeping with the theme of this website. It's called Take The Piss for a reason. That's what he's doing to you. You taking the bait makes it even more so.

Here's a hint: when you join a new site like this with several fora, it's highly recommended that you read the site's FAQs, and learn proper forum etiquette. In this case, cross-posting and multiple posts of the same message are frowned upon. That's why you're having an issue.

To help you on your search for a team:

1) let people know what part of town you're interested in playing in. There are a number of summer leagues operating, and unlike the winter leagues, they tend to stay in one part of town or another.

2) let people know what position you play. Goalkeepers are worth their weight in gold, as nobody rational would want to play the position. Real strikers are hard to find as well, as on paper everybody's a striker. Even Keeper. Midfield is good.

3) Tell people where you last played, and at what level. It will help you and your prospective team know how to gauge where you should be looking. When you say "Seniors" are you referring to over 35's, over 40's, or just Adult in relation to Youth soccer?

OK nobody yell at me for posting this, I am just trying to help out Shemsta because he wants to play soccer, and good for him. Shemsta, given your age and where you live, I make the following suggestions:

North Shore Coaches League is a league that is based on the North Shore, it is an over 30s league, which has summer and winter leagues going on. There are teams within this league with varying levels of skill, and you may find a good fit. Cside17 that posts on this site can probably steer you in the right direction, perhaps you could PM him on that.

There is also a league called the Miller's League on the North Shore. It is named after a legendary player called Steve Millar I think. I do not believe that they have a summer league but they do have various divisions and also an over 30s Division that I think is a bit less competetive than the North Shore Coaches League. You would have to google them to find a contact, can anyone help?

Also I believe that there is a Persian over 30s team called Shaheen in the Vancouver Metro League, I don't know if you are Persian or not, but Shemstra sounds a bit like it. They drink tea and shower with their underwear on I think.

But PM (private message) me I will help you...let me know your ethic background there are lots of teams based on ethnicity around too. Welcome to TTP and the North Shore Shemsta .

see... beer league = Saturday soccer... 1:30 Grouard and Willingdon across from BCIT (turn west and go up the hill). Plinking follows. This Saturday may be light due Squamish participants missing, but they will be glad to see a young guy like you.

or try this Tuesday night 9:00 PM at William Griffin (NV), talk to Bobby.
