Default Spanish soccer player in Calgary

Hi,

My name is Bruno Delgado and I'm a former professional and semipro soccer player from Spain.

I'm moving to Calgary in August and I've been told there is a well organized major league in Alberta.

I'm 31 y.o, 1'84 77 in pretty good shape, full back or midfielder (have also played as a second forward when I was younger). I've played in Spanish 3rd, 2B leagues, French CFA, Meistriliiga (Estonian Top division).

I've been a season off due to a broken leg but now that I'm moving to Calgary for a job (professional soccer is over), but I still would love to play soccer again for a well organised team, though amateur or semi-pro.

If anybody can help or knows about a speific soccer forum for Alberta, I will be very grateful.

Thank you very much!

My e-mail is: noi_rosset@hotmail.com

PS: I will be in Calgary from August 23rd

Sorry but the soccer is very poor in Alberta. However if you drive about 12 hours west from out of the snow you will see a beautiful city named Vancouver. Here you will hopefully find a competative league.

Indeed, Alberta football is shocking Bruno.

That being said, you should PM two guys on here who could maybe help you.

Larsson and The Judge.
Not the most socially acceptable duo but they'll be in the know there.

Larsson's team, as we all nauseatingly have beocme to know, are reigning Canadian Champs in Open.

The Judge's team is a Western Canadian Champion in the Masters category.

Good luck and enjoy the snow.

Bruno,

AMSL Website I think is here:

Alberta Major Soccer League

There appears to be a couple of Calgary-based teams - good luck, especially if you end up with Larsson and the Callies

No, sorry...what is it?

I've never played indoor soccer, would love to try but I'm more interested in outdoor regular soccer

Well, you only get regular outdoor soccer in AB 4 months of the year, tops.

If you're moving to Cowtown get used to indoor and futsal

Lol, didn't know that Thordarsson was coaching the Whitecaps. I actually dunno much about Northamerica's soccer. I was about to sign for the Charleston Batteries a couple of years ago but I finally remained in Europe and the got my tibia and fibula broken . Have already checked the Alberta Major Soccer Leagu's website but it doesn't seem to have a forum or a way to contact the teams. I also don't find much info about them in google.

I hope to talk to Larsson soon. I'd love to know what kind of league is it, what's the level of organization, to what kind of leagues can you compaire this AMSL and so on. If you can provide me with some clues I will be very glad to know more about all this.

Thank you guys!

Charleston?

They just played the Whitecaps last night here in Vancouver - too funny

I think you'll find the AMSL competitive. A step or 2 perhaps below USL (Whitecaps/Charleston/etc league) but pretty good as far as amatuer leagues go (don't tell Larsson I said that).

A step above though would be the leagues here in Vancouver (where RCIU play) - perhaps ACBC could fly you in every weekend to play.

Finally Regs has admitted the FVSL is the top Premier league in these parts.

I hear Ghouse regularly flies his players in, and pays them for travel time. He is that kind of coach. Maybe Bruno should contact him

Ghouse is a poster here that runs a club called ACBC

In truth he is a good guy that runs a team that has gained promotion in consecutive years from FVSL D2 to Premier for this year.

He gets the gears from the other posters on TTP because he does things differently than traditional thinkers, sticks in the mud, etc... and does well doing so

Stop kissing his ass...or go become ACBC "C"....

He'd be the 1st one here defending himself if it needed doing... People are jealous however that they don't have his combination of $ and passion..
