Golf 4 A Cure
I just wanted to let everyone know about a golf tournament that is going to be happening on June 20,2003. A little over three years ago, we got the idea to host a Charity Golf Tournament for Cancer, and we are proud to say that the First Annual Golf 4 a Cure Charity Golf Tournament - benefiting Cancer Research was an overwhelming success. And this year we have a bigger and better tournament planned.

“Cancer is the leading cause of death in British Columbia. In the year 2000, there were nearly 17,500 new cases of cancer. Today, more and more people are being diagnosed with cancer and projections for the future are staggering. One out of three persons can be expected to develop cancer in his or her lifetime…they are our family members, our friends, our neighbours…ourselves.” (The BC Cancer Foundation)

Golf 4 a Cure is pleased to be able to have The BC Cancer Foundation this year as our charity of choice.

As someone who has just lost a family member to cancer, this is a cause very close to my heart.

We are looking for players, hole sponsors and prizes. Please check out the website at Golf4acure .

This happens while I'm home in June so I'm in assuming some of these knuckleheads make up a foursome with me. Ooer.

It would make a top TTP day out and the fact that it's for a fantastic cause makes it all the more appealing. I cannot think of a bigger hero than Terry Fox and he emcompassed everything good about being Canadian.

So, I'm in. Come on lads, this is something we should properly get behind, it could be a cracking day out.

That's two in the foursome then. Which, given my remedial Math 11 background, leads me to think we're halfway to having a foursome.

It's the closest I've ever been to a foursome.

I would like The Captain and Jinky to take up the remaining two places.

It's the only way I'll be able to put up with KNVB for 18 holes.

Buckfast, can I have my clubs back now?

You don't want the Captain he cost us the TTP tourney last year with some shoc-king putting.

What was Buckfast doing with your clubs? Building a shelter?

What Buckfast was doing with my clubs is the $64,000 question. Something about hitting balls off the pavement on Yew Street at 2:00am.

That's not good for clubs, you know. Particularly with his swing.

Sounds like a great idea. However, money might be tight, so I will start saving a bit when I get back from Ireland. KNVB cost us last year's tournament but I'm willing to give him another chance.

I hope some of you PoCo boys will show your support to this tournament (sliver, monkey,draven, jack, osama, skytrain, snowman just to name a few). I was in the tournament last year and will be there this year.

It is a good tournament and also for a great cause.

I think a few of the guys definitely will be attending, I'll mention it to them again (if we play again this year)

I just wanted to verify the date of the tournament. It is on Friday June 20, 2003. It is happening at Golden Eagle Golf Club on the north course. We used the south last year, and hopefully next year we will be able to use both the north and the south.

Just wanted to remind everyone about the GOLF 4 A CURE CHARITY TOURNAMENT . The date of June 20th, 2003 is coming up quick, and the tournament is filling up just as fast. If you would like to play in the tournament, sponsor a hole or just donate prizes, let me know.

The tournament format is a Texas Scramble with a 1:30 pm shotgun start.
There are 3 divisions of teams; mixed—must have at least 1 member of the opposite sex; women’s only and men’s only.
Registration is $125.00 CDN per golfer, this includes:

Green fee for 18 holes
power cart
lunch on the course
a buffet dinner of roast beef and all the trimmings
a golf 4 a Cure logo golf shirt
all golfers receive prizes
a Welcome Kit,
door prizes and much more...

If you have any questions about the tournament, either post them here, or just PM me, and I will answer them as best I can.
