Div 3 team needs a coach!

Hey all,

My Div 3 team needs a coach. we are a pretty new team and we have aspirations of moving up a division. We have had a player coach but need someone who really knows what they are doing to help us out. The girls are great, they listen well and work hard, and we have a really fun group.

Practices are wednesday nights, games sundays and we play out of Burnaby. No freaks/pervs please.

I hear what you're saying but what else have you done to attract a coach???

I also know it's a new trend to 'pay' coaches for their time, perhaps a fundraiser is in order?

aside from asking around, not a whole lot. we did pay a coach for part of last year, but he was not committed at all and was also a total jerk to the girls. besides, i don't know where to look even for a paid coach???

hee hee, you wouldn't know him, he's actually a professional coach and really knows his stuff, but he was really mean to the weaker players on the team and spread himself too thin so we were paying him to be there only half the time

Rosco, it sounds as if your team recruited a coach that didn't suit your team. Your going to have to be upfront with what you expect and make sure the 'new' coach understands the level of skill (eg. 'weaker players'). I still think you'll do best by advertising more of the team 'goals' and of course what the players have to offer (development wise). It doesn't matter what level you're at, a coach may be attracted by the enthusiasm of your team.

I'd help out but I live no where near Burnaby and have no desire to give up Wednesday nights/Sundays (but if the price was right...)

BTW, don't listen to the Captain, he doesn't know what he's talking about

Unfortunately, I am in the post production phase of "Soccer Girls Gone Wild" and the pressure is on to get it done in time for Christmas distribution. I have to go back and re-shoot a whole lot of footage as some moron spilt beer on the camera ruining our Kamloops tourney footage.
