3 weeks to go! In terms of hanging out with mates or with the family, what plans do you have? Unfortunately I'm just starting to look around and see what there is to do and what would be the best place to take the family to, you know, get a bit of the whole experience but without breaking the bank. Do you think the 2 LiveCity events downtown would be the best bet? Molsen Hockey House would be cool with a bunch of friends but the key dates are sold out for the $99 pass and $495 for the semis day is too much for my blood. Anyone? If you could... Would You? |

$99 isn't bad if you consider the free shows by comedians, musicians, and ex NHL'ers at MCHH. I think some of the free concerts would be cool too. I think most of it will be, for me anyways, meeting mates at the pub for watching the hockey games and hanging out at home after work watching th eother events in HD from my own house like I would if the Olympics were in Sweden Or Germany or something. |

Actually LiveCity Yaletown should be pretty good for concerts.... The only thing not there is alcohol.... but i'm sure it will still be entertaining especially when that Deadmau5 is DJing..... Plus the pavillions look pretty cool there... Coca Cola, Samsung, Panasonic and Acer all have pavillions with some pretty cool features... As long as it doesn't rain (especially since no umbrella's are allowed in there), it should be pretty decent.... I'll be working the night shifts there, swing by and say Hi... I'll be wearing the Blue Jacket with City of Vancouver on it... ![]() Live City Downtown will have a huge screen with all the sports going on at the time, plus they have manitoba house which is basically the beer garden. A little smaller than yaletown's live site, but will be pretty decent too.... Especially since there is booze there....

For the events in Richmond and Surrey, I'm wondering if you'll really get that Olympic feeling? I guess Richmond will moreso than Surrey since there are actual events taking place there and I would imagine many out-of-towners from the Netherlands will be there (are they not strong in speed skating?).
If you could... Would You? |

That said, I am planning a group to go to MCHH on the 23rd... not a bad day to go as there are 4 hockey games... womens bobsled (insert video here of the infamous pants splitting)... womens ski-cross... and mens speedskating, as well as a Sam Roberts concert and DJ Skratch Bastid. Should be a good time. $99 gets you your food, and entertainment, but you gotta buy your own beers. Also... dont worry about staying there all day, as it gives you in and out privileges. Be sure to buy your tix as a group though, as they tack on a $20 delivery charge per order. You might as well enjoy these games... WE'RE PAYING FOR THEM FOR THE NEXT 25 YEARS! | |

Not sure how much of this has been covered already but here is a list of things to do that was compiled by a friend of mine who's part of VANOC. Live City Site in David Lam Park. Coca-Cola pavilion there and it is going to be very cool. There are live performances and activities all day at the site and there are 3 other sponsor pavilions there from Acer, Samsung and Panasonic. There is another Live City site beside the Post Office too. Here is the link for more details Home Royal Canadian Mints pavilion. This may be a first that you can actually go and see the Olympic and Paralympic medals up close. They have a “gold room” where there is a $1M coin along with a ton of games, coin exchanges and activities for kids: Visit the Mint Pavilion There are nightly Victory Ceremonies where athletes receive their medals and each night has a provincial theme and a band. The tickets are only $22 each: Ceremonies : Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics and Paralympics The HBC Olympic Superstore has all of the Olympic swag, the Coca-Cola pin trading and is definitely worth checking out: Hbc 2010 | We were made for this. You can go skating and there will be activities at Robson Square downtown. B.C. Government Home - Province of British Columbia I also highly recommend checking out the Four Host First Nations pavilion Home FHFN Finally there are provincial tents and activities on the Concord Pacific land (the old Molson Indy track), in Richmond, Surrey, West Vancouver and of course for those of you lucky enough to get up there….Whistler! |

Just booked two trips to Whistler. No events, but the hotel rate is about double normal...or $500 plus tax a night for a dodgy 1 bedroom. First weekend is w/ the missus, second weekend w/ the boys to get in some skiing and enjoy the apres ski festivities. Trying to get my hands on any men's hockey tix for me and the boy. |
