2008 Whitecaps Men Results

Caught about 10 minutes of this game on Shaw last night by accident - nice to see Shaw delay the broadcast in favour of a WHL playoff game involving 2 teams not even in BC

Aside from the game looking very ordinary, the thing that really stood out was the state of the pitch?!?!?!

WTF?!?!

It looked BRUTAL. Perhaps Burnaby is cutting back on swangard maintenance in order to pay for new turf at burnaby lake

The state of the pitch was the first thing we noticed, Shocking. From the southside the Caps goal was magic. They had another dissallowed for offside. Montreal didnt really have anything that could be called a chance.

Good times, great atmosphere in the soutside.

I remember a header that was close, and a good save too. I also remember some tool throwing a glass bottle at the keeps but it hit the crossbar. The pitch looked like my backyard, which is not good at all. Hopefully it will be better, they have 2 weeks until the next game to sort it out.

Maybe the poor field conditions are an attempt to help the Caps lobby for a new stadium...

I sadly missed the home opener...due to my Grandparents 50th Anniversary party...so I was relegated to watching the highlights on Fox Soccer Report...

Wow, the pitch looked shocking. Brown spots, etc...

Usually the pitch at swangard is immaculate.

Nice goal by Sebrango...it should be another fun summer of beers in the park pre-match and lots of beers behind the south goal.

No one owned up to it and I'm sure his friends weren't going to say anything. I have a feeling it was the guy in the Portuguese Ronaldo jersey. Needless to say the Southside wasn't happy about it either. Classless.

The bottle surely did not come from the SS did it?

Impact keeper, not the actual SS, it was directly behind the net.

I still don't get it. The bottle came from behind the South goal, but no southsider threw it?

I don't know how if that is the case Digger or some of the other guys didn't punch the guy out.

The problem with the Southside is that the security guards are more concerned with the SS'ers swearing and smoking than they are with the retards doing things like glass bottle tossing et al.

Well, the SS'ers were to the right of the goal, they'd be the ones chanting all game long. It looked to me like a group of younger kids directly behind the net threw it, which prompted many SSer's to swear and ask who did it, to no avail obviously. That's what I meant, came from the Southside, but not a Southsider.

I usually do drive down... two weeks time... here's to hoping for more great match day weather, last year we were hard hit with rainduring the early part of the season IIRC...
