VMSL Div 2 Cup Results and Banter 2004/2005

On Thursday night comes the long awaited VMSL cup draws. In the past few years the JimBeam crew has shat the bed in the round of 16. The final 8 last year were:
Bombastic SC 'A'
Signmaster SC
City FC Rangers 'A'
Westside Rino 'C'
Club Ireland Hibs
Elephant Walk
Richmond FC
Shaheen FC

With the exception of City FC who are in Div1 this year and overlooking Elephant Walk who are having a nightmare of a season which of these teams will make the later rounds.....Will Richmond be able to field a team?(They always do when they play us...Damn you TS)

Bonefish - I'll take a stab at the final 8 for '05, regardless of who has made it in the past:

2A - Signmaster - Good back line makes them hard to beat.
2B - Binger's - The purple army always hangs around.
2C - Burnaby - Tough to play, hard working.
2C - Shaheen - Quick, skilled but beatable...longshot.
2C - Belmont - With 5 wins and a tie in the last 6 games this new team seems to be rolling.
2CAT - Richmond United
2CAT - Surrey C
2CAT - Westside C
2CAT - Wickham

Going out on a limb and picking four CAT teams to make the final 8. Have also picked three 2C teams as that group has five teams fighting for top spot and seems to be the only group with more than a couple teams really competing within their division.

Sorry to the JB's who I would like to see make it but too much inconsistency over the years says no.

There is also the draw to consider....Once that is done, our predictions will have some more weight to them.

Can't wait to hear what Socceroos thinks of his team's chances in the cup or maybe they've entered the Imperial ??

I personally feel we have a good shot at winning the whole thing regardless of the draw and am looking forward to playing teams from the other sides of Div 2 like: Signmaster, Royal United(without a loss this year, like our squad !!), Binger's Army(also w/o a loss), Shaheen & Wickham(the first 12 game winner).

From what I have seen on the VMSL website, it looks like Feb 19th/20th will be the first weekend...

We had them in Cup Play last year and they ran hard for the first 30min and then fell off pretty hard and were beat 3-0.

I like those pics, except for Wicham. They use AlOT of Div one players from what I have heard, and those guys most likely will be in Imperial, thus they should be weak in the Cup. But then again ,what do I know

We can almost runfor 45 minutes without a break. If I remember correctly the E-Walk A took care of you the very next game.

The draw they posted is all messed up. Signmaster plays two games in the Round of 32 and there are some teams that play each other in the Prelim that do not have a winner advance...Hmmm....Soccerooos get a bye? Sounds like you are already organized you big tailed, hopping Macropus.

You should be able to beat them. I used to play for a Point G Untd but I believe everyone has gone there seperate ways. They bring there Lunchbuckets and hardhats and work hard. They play at Tremble park , I think..

Hey Deuce, we finally found something we have in common apart from our big heads and good looks. I used to play for them for 2 years. Anthony used to run the team at the time. They used to be pretty bitchy with each other,which is the reason that there are all kinds of Point Grey teams around now.
They are a bunch of Pussys Gurps, play em' hard and they will start crying....they are in our Summer league and we made em' cry a lot.

P.S. Just talked to Willi Azzi....he was tired last night and made a few mistakes posting the draw. He will fix all the mistakes,but confirmed that the Roos are playing Signmaster.....Maybe we will not win the Cup this year after all.

Socceroos - your brain clearly is on par with your soccer abilities. PG United was not run by Anthony - that was the PG Strikers A team. PG United were in Div 1 last year and then folded when a bunch of their players jumped ship. Their remaining players went over to a new team called Unicorns but they kept the PG United name.

They used to be pretty bitchy with each other,which is the reason that there are all kinds of Point Grey teams around now.

How one relates to the other is beyond me. Could you explain how you are an expert in Point Grey soccer and know that the reason the Strikers were bitchy with each other is the reason there are so many PG teams? This should be interesting...
