Question [VMSL DIV 2 CAT] Provisional & Predicions Aug/Sept 2005

GROUP A
Bombastic SC 'B'

New mix of players with some old. Will win a few and lose a few. Better than last year
Sikh Temple GFC

Depends on who shows up
Wickham FC 'B'

Will battle to win the div unless lost players
Sporting Punjab 'B'

Teams will take points from them
Croatia SC United

Good side top position not possible as they will lose points when they shouldn’t due to missing players
Nomads 'B'

A wait and see. 2nd season but probably only 3 wins in them
Lobban's SC 'C'

New depth in the club. Usually means a weaker team. It takes a year to create a new team that can compete.
WFC Rangers 'B'

Will compete for top spot.
PCOV Europa

New side?????
IFC Zawisza

Every division needs one. A last place team.
GROUP B

Bombastic SC Classic

Solid Team This year. Should be in top 3

Westside Rino 'C'

Will compete at the top

Club Ireland Hibs

U21 gone this year so might be young and quick

Richmond United 'B'

Known to be one of the more solid CAT Teams. Could win the Division

Vancouver Olympics 'B'

New Team most likely mid tables

Lobban's SC 'B'

Always tough. Finish depends on help from Div 1 & Masters.

City FC Rangers 'B'

One of the better sides last year in our group I though but numbers week in week out killed them.

BC Romania

No Idea

PCOV Europa

New side?????

Kosova Aryana

Same team new name???? If so bottom dweller

IFC Zawisza

Every division needs one. A last place team.

Surrey United 'C'

Always a solid side. Not always the best organized. Top to mid table.

New depth means win after win actually.....Don't call it a comback...we've been here for years.

I believe the new depth comment was in reference to Lobbans 'C'

they only had two teams before, but now three.

Hey Dezza....Spot on. Lobbans are solid. Just the C team is unknown. Growing pains. I know they took one of our C team players from last year who is ok but a team full of playrs like him only add up to a few losses. Could be wrong. this is why they call it PREDICTIONS!!

I think you meant "what" but that's Ok as I am a typo expert.

I've been away on business for two weeks and I was stunned to see the realignment. My first thoughts are the B group just became easier. I'm pretty sure they are basically putting together a strong division and a weaker. At least it looks like it.

Group B only have a few good squads at first look:

Bombastic Classic - We changed names and I think Azzie has confused our C team with "Classic". This is a mistake as this team is stacked with Older solid players not our WEEKEST players. WE could win the Div.

Norvan (if it is the same Norvan) could be good.

Group A looks very competative. Our B team will play well but will struggle for wins

that is prettr much my thoughts. A filled with solid teams and B filled with some good to average teams and then teams that are at Div 3 level.

What about your thoughts Gurps????

Group "A" is even stronger than last year, and probably stronger than any regular Div two grouping. The league has done the right thing and put all the Div 1 Cat teams (exception Bombastic) on one side.

Anyone see Deucy or Mackers around?

Last I heard of Duecy was he was getting ripped at Skybar, never heard or seen of him again.....

small update:

BFC Classic could be moved to Group A as it has been noted that our stronger and weaker teams have been possibly confused.

It is also confirmed they are trying to create a Top division in CAT and a bottom division.

that is exactly what they are doing. I also agree that the Cat 2A is as strong and filled with teams better than many of the Div 2 teams.

Who will win Cat Group A?

Tough call.....

Richmond is the obvious early favorite.

Sikh Temple, Westside, WFC Rangers, as well as Wickham should all be very strong too....

New depth means taking Westside Rino's recycled players.. which in turn means having your guys getting bumped from your Div. 1 team to Div. 2 CAT... How do those long serving Rangers players feel about this demotion?

The league denied City FC Rangers B our Saturday Night home game time on the new Ladner turf.

Apparently too much conflict with other things and they don't do Saturday night games. (Bullsh*t). Those of you in side A now have the joy of coming out to Beach Grove on a sunday. Enjoy the long drives, shityy, shitty field, the pond and bog behind one goal and the hurricane force winds that is Beach Grove in the winter

That is stupid......

What would be the problem. There are games played on Sunday's, so it wouldn't be an issue of getting scores, referee reports in, etc.

I don't know. We had 7pm ( i think) time we were sharing week on and off with our womens team. Now we get to miss NFL afternoon games at least every other week. ALthough Saturday night canuck games are now available.

I HATE THAT FIELD there for I hate the league for that.

Beach Grove is a friggin nightmare. I do understand the Saturday night thing as many teams would complain about that.......but with that said, teams are getting used to Friday Night games so why not. Plus a league with good fields only attracts better players.

Predictions for what it is worth, with not knowing how things are shaping up with each team:

Wickham 1
Richmond 2

Sikh Temp 2
Lobbans B 2

Bomb Classic 2
WFC Rangers B 1 (this is obviously a homer prediction)

Westside Rino C 1
Van Olypics 1

Club Ireland 1
City FC Rangers B 3

Lobban's SC C 0
Sporting Punjab B 2

Bomb FC B 1
Croatia UTD 1

IFC Ravens 3
PCOV Europa 1

Surrey UTD C 1
Norvan SC Lions 2

BC Romania 0
Nomads B 0
