Default [VMSL Premier] Fixture of the Week Nov. 26/ 27/28

Who do you fancy as the game of the week?

MF vs Clan Bus - Metro Ford afforded themselves a little breathing room with a big 6 point win over Peg last weekend will they take their foot off the gas or look to burry Peg under a heap of relegation. I would think they’ll still be in desperation mode until Christmas. Clan Bus was soundly beaten by Surrey for (momentary) first place on side B. Dwindling numbers (12) have me wonder if they’ll be ready for MF. The sched. says Mundy #4, but I’m betting it’ll be a turf game.

Mighty Khalsa vs Inter - – Khalsa is on a 3 game slide getting their garbage cans handed to them in 2 of 3. With High School kids and Surrey castoff’s as the heart of the roster the slide may just become an avalanche before long. Inter on the other hand pissed a 10 man BBY side and were only rewarded with a singleton last week. Still, I doubt this will be anything less than 2-0 for the I-ties.

Surrey United vs Firetown - – Surrey are on a 4 game win streak and have outscored their opponents 14-4 in the last 4. Worst to first in a month’s time. Firetown on the other hand find them selves lagging behind after a terrific start. They’re 1-1-2 in their last four and haven’t scored since Halloween and are about to face one of the stingiest defenses in the league. A win will give them a small step towards getting back to the top and loss helps SU take huge step in defending their title.

Burnaby vs Westside - – Probably more apply(sp) named I-Tie than Inter, BBY continues to lead side A with 4 wins and 6 ties. One would think a win is finally in the cards but it’s pretty hard to score from your own 18. Ask Millar. He’s tried. Westside seems to be struggling more this year than in recent memory but final has a Keeper, even if he is on loan, to help them play with a little more confidence.

Croatia vs Trollups - – A referee’s nightmare, moaners versus kickers. $10.00 says they stick Walks with this one. Trollups haven’t won for 5 weeks after a 4-1 start. Croatia is doing their best to claw their way out of the sole relegation spot. This could be a perfect weekend to catch Khalsa and or Sapperton.

AFC vs Sapperton - – AFC 4 wins in a row, 4 losses in a row. They just beat a Firetown last week to end the slide and prove they can play in cold weather if they have to. Sapperton will be desperate not to join Khalsa and Croatia in the seller, but may not have enough on the park to deal with AFC. We shall see

Sporting vs Pegusus - Sporting seems to be rolling with only a minor stumble to MF and where troubled by Westside goaltending last week in a 0-0 game. Pegusus really have their backs up against the wall, especially now that they’re 6 points back of MF. At this point I’d rather play a first place side than a desperate team capable of winning Nationals.

There you have it my attempt to spark a bit of VMSL banter.

Giver er.

hmmm...we were in last place this time last year. by recent do you mean not recently?

k, now that i'm done picking apart just a small portion of your jibberish(sp), i'm leaning toward the westside vs. bby match. always an incredibly entertaining affair. end to end...at least the ball anyways.

Nice little write-up knvb, and aptly named "MOTW". Well since none of the 3 Sunday matches that are set to play on Vancouver pitches will be going ahead, I am guessing it will be one of the 4 games that are set to go on Turf Fields on friday night or saturday.

I am thinking that Fireman vs. Slurrey United could be a cracker, I am sure the BIG boys on FF, are all not to happy with Nial and his move over to Surrey, and there could be the odd tackle coming his way, he in turn will try to continue his solid play so far. I say Fireman break the slide and come out on top out at Cloverhoof.

The other 3 Turf matches should be interesting, with a Draw in Burnaby on Saturday. MF has been playing well the last few matches, and Khalsa has a tough match ahead of them with Inter visiting Mercer on Friday night.

Can we put some tokens on one of these matches?

Yup, just waiting for a clear cut winner and I'll have a bookie event and new thread to hold all of the new posts. Better fire up the extra server, Regs.

A lot of history between these 2 clubs. We have not played sapperton since we pissed on them in the burnaby tournament. But there is a lot of hatred from both sides so this should be another tough game for a ref to keep under control. I hope Rene is reffering.

I hate to jump in a thread mid conversation like this, but the time has come... The MOTW has been won as voted by you, the pride of the VMSL. Yes, that’s right, all 13 of you. Slurrey vs. Firetown token betting here:
