| Member | I'm curious - are we the first team in the VMSL to receive a team fine for not providing corner flags at an artificial turf game? We've played several games on turf this year and have been told by various league officials that the use of small round cones is sufficient - not ideal of course, but good enough since we can't use our regular corner flags on turf. Now, 3/4 through the season one ref writes us up and we're being fined. Has the league fined anyone else? We also received a fine for non-matching uniforms (one guy forgot his white socks). No problem paying this one as we know the rules but it is amusing how this is not applied in a consistent manner. Watched our Cat team play on Saturday and the opposition teams uniforms were a mess. Somehow I doubt the league will fine them though. |

| Not too bright BANNED | No. We have been fined 3 times this year. Once for non matching socks. Once for a shitty lining of the field ( a B game on grasss field) and once for cones instead of flags as you have been. The league depends on the refs to write up these infringements so if the ref writes you up, fined you are. |

| Member | The last part of your response is pretty much what Azzi says - you missed the exclamation point though. The only part that bothers me is the corner flag issue. The league knows many of the turf fields don't have corner flags and my guess is most teams don't have a set specifically for turf. Early in the season, one of the league's more senior refs specifically told us that due to this he (and presumably others) would waive this requirement. I just think the league should be more consistent in their approach with respect to these types of fines. |
