Serbia 4- Hurricanes 2 (OT)

great game played out at Mercer tonight... game was 2-2 going into OT but then we scored a goal in each half to come out victorious. Onto a tough game against Sporting next week.

Caught the Serbia vs. Hurricanes game.

1-1 at the half, and both teams fortunate to of scored IMO. Serbias goal off a free kick 35+ yards out that somehow eluded several players and somehow snuck into the far post. Hurricanes reply just before halftime with a VERY soft PK call. Looked like #2 just flopped when he came into contact with the defender. Second half was scrappy once again, back and forth. Hurricanes come down the Serbain left flank, player cuts in and roofs one with less then 10 to go. After the restart, Serbia go on the attack and rewarded with a scramble goal and it's 2-2 after 90 minutes. Great 1st goal in OT by Serbia with the ball in and the finish excellent. At that point Hurricanes packed it in I thought, didn't see the 4th tally. Just my two cents..

CIC, I agree with you. I caught the game as well, and the game was very entertaining. Both teams had their chances, but the Serbians looked like a fitter team, which proved to be the difference.
Next round, I believe they play Sporting which will be interesting to see if Div 1A top team, can beat Top Premier team. It will be very hard IMO.

CIC, what do you think your chances are against the Serb in one game win all? When I watched your team against Punjabs, you guys destroyed them.

In a single game playoff anything can happen, any 11 men can win on the day. At this point in time, we're are only focused on our upcoming game. Next week against Westside will be a good measuring stick as to where we really are. Following that, we have to play a desperate Sarajevo squad and finish off with Fiji. The Divisional standings might lead one to believe that these are 'easy' games, but they'll be anything but. One team desperate to avoid the relegation playoff game, and one team already relegated trying to play spoiler. To answer your question though, I think we can beat Serbia. Going out to watch the RUFC vs Norvan game, should I even bother?

I thought those were club I guys in their umbro jackets getting pissed right by me although I didn't recognize club I champ oddly. The second goal wasn't as dramatic as you make it out to be. It was 2 offside passes and the player beat the goalie low as the keeper got a piece of it. How many beers were you guys on by then. The rest of your report is pretty accurate.

Was a good game but fitness was the difference as stated above.

Its true... we went up 2 - 0 after about 30 minutes... then we let off the gas. They scored at the VERY end of the first half on an own goal off a free kick... then tied it up off an amazingly weak header midway through the second.

Nothing to report in the OT.

The penos were clinical. After both teams net their first 3, the fourth Peg shot was saved, but the ref ordered a re-load... stating I left too soon. The re-take was scored.

Then the Peg keeper made 2 great stops to end the peno session.

Peg showed tons of heart all game. Work rate was outstanding.

Beer is good.
