2008 Provincial Cup - VMSL Teams

So I have compiled the standings as of yesterday for our teams that will competing in this years Provincial Cup. I have heard it will be a little someting like this, 4 Imperial Cup Semi-finalists, the next top 4 or 5teams in the standings of the Premier division (reason i say top 5, i am not sure how they will designate VMSL 9th's spot as per the new system.)

Standings as of March 10th.

Please correct me if i'm wrong. The final spot is either Delta's or Metro Ford's?

I can't see the Delta United getting past Metro Ford on points. It would require them to actually score a goal. Something they have only done once since October. Although A 0-0 draw is possible.

Yes... MF is definitely on a tear... 15 out of 15 possible points in the last 5 outings. And they have not lost since Nov 17.

Us... not so much. 22 points in first 10 games... 1 point since. And we have 35 minutes against Croatia to score a goal to extend our season. Gut check time.

PS We scored a goal against Norvan on Jan 26... before that it was Nov 10.

Metro Ford is the hottest team in the VMSL - they are undefeated in their last 8 league games.

Delta on the other hand is winless in their last 8.

Anyone knows what happens if both teams are tied? Playoff game? I think Delta's last game is against the Croats.

It's turning out to be the "Year of the playoff".

Good thanks. Lost our first game and then didn't lose in our next 17 league games.

Fcuked things up in the Cup and now the dream of going on a road trip to the River Rock for the B provincials is over.

We may still go on the trip and support another team.

Hopefully we can sort everything out for the promotion games and play Div 1 next year.

It is my understanding that four teams get a guaranteed bye in the prelim round. They are:
FVSL #1
VISL#1
VMSL#1 (Sporting)
PCL#1 (UBC)

This will be interesting how this will work.... cuz with 20 total teams, 4 seeds with bye's to the first round. The first round will then have 12 teams remaining. How will this work for a schedule.

Prelims - 16 Teams Play, 4 Bye
Round 1 - 12 Teams Play
Round 2 - 6 Teams Play
Round 3 - ???

I dont' think there will be 4 seeded teams. But then again what do i know.

They need to play 4 games in the preliminary round.

8 teams play , 12 with byes.
4 winners and 12 with byes play in round 1.

Those four teams are the only ones guaranteed to not play in one of the prelim games.
Sandman said nothing about eveyone else playing.

You don't rate the PCSL very high because I beleive UBC had to win the League to get that spot, well come in second to Victory.

I think that they (BC Soccer) should also give byes to Cup winners, Imperial, Pac., and Island Cup. League winners is a good start, but a first round bye is huge for a team that just limps in.

Supposedly UBC's coach asked all the players if they wanted to play with UBC in the Provincials..several made the decision to stay with their respective teams and some transferred back to UBC before the 'deadline', which apparently was conveniently extended for the UBC players?
