The 2011 Womens World Cup starts today in Germany.

First game is in the books with France beating Nigeria 1-0.

Canada takes on the host nation, ze Germans, at 9:00AM PST LIVE on CBC (streamed online as well thru cbcsports.ca)

That second goal looked offside to me... Canada with slightly more possession but the Germans are much more efficient when they have it. Much more. Canada appears to try and rely more on athleticism rather than technique.

And it appears their outside backs are having a stinker today.

rather boring game to watch. Canada could have made it 1-0 on Sinclair's strike that went over the net early, really the only good look at zee German goal.

our "transgendered monsters" look much nice than theirs though...especially Kaylyn Kyle.

The female crew of officials has been absolutely awful. They don't seem to understand the offside law and the ref is clueless. Ze Germans are big and strong. Canada's corners have been diabolical and playing an offside trap with poor assistants is looking for trouble.

Check the replay of zzze Churmans 2nd goal - she was not offside; the left back played her on. Regs is correct; the outside backs were dodgy at best. Game officials were a bit out of their depth...

The replay that DeVos was showing at the half had zze Churman striker about a step onside (courtesy of Ms. Left Back) when the ball was allegedly hit. I say allegedly, because they didn't step it forward & back as would have been done on TV Azteca or RAI or even Setenta, so one could not tell from that if the ball was actually being released; hence my previous post.

Not saying it isn't a bad injury but as she said it's the world cup, suck it up, it's only pain. The guys in the NHL are playing with seperated shoulders, torn labrums etc. The is far more painful and far tougher to play with. What's this she won't be cleared to play until the pain has gone away nonsense, I feel pain getting out of bed for fukc sakes. Who is a doctor to say you can't play through pain as long as your life isn't at risk.

She dribbled into trouble too much......ze Germans double teamed her and physically were able to handle her. She is obviously one of the better players in the game but ze Germans did a good job with her overall other than the chance at the start.
