No... but Leonard would have "coached" Yallop during his brief stint at the helm of the CMNT

Are there any other MLS clubs that have a similar dynamic that we do? Local soccer 'hero', used to play for the team, played for his country, is now GM. It is a problem.

There's a few for sure... the closest parallel would be Nick De Santis in Montreal.

Old Duzzi fracked up in fiorst place. Getting rid of Rennie was just to save his skin. Yallop will be his last kick at the bocket. Duzzi is sixty years old guy that thinks he will win with kids he brings in. Not a chance. Yallop could have played with Duzzi for ayear or two. Duzzi head no skill at all. Just boot the long ball up the field and defend for life. Yallop on the other hand knows the game. Team is bit better off with him in comend but realy not that much unless they start buying top soccer players. Not some plumbers from US. Maybe Yallop has few guys in the works that might help the club. Club needs a second team in NASL to have talent developed at higher standard. Just look at Mitchell how much Edmonton helped him out.
I wish Rennie all the best. I hope Canadian National side gives that guy a chance with weman or on mens side in U 23. Getting rid of young and upcoming coachers does very little to develop soccer here.
But thats Canada. Blame the coach for non talented outings. Fricken kids can not win in tough situations.

Some "big name" players with major international experience are available in the upcoming re-entry draft.... unfortunately some will also have "big" contracts. Anyone you'd like to see the Caps acquire?

M Arévalo Ríos (Chicago Fire / Uruguay)
F Jairo Arrieta (Columbus Crew / Costa Rica)
M Dwayne De Rosario (DC United / Canada) - League MVP 2011
M David Ferreira (FC Dallas / Columbia) - League MVP 2010
D Heath Pearce (NY Red Bull / USA)
D David Carney (NY Red Bull / Australia)
M Kleberson (Philadelphia Union / Brazil)

Rules are as follows:

Teams are able to select players who meet the following criteria:
  • Players who are at least 23 years old and have a minimum of three years of MLS experience whose options were not exercised by their clubs (available at option salary for the next season).
  • Players who are at least 25 years old with a minimum of four years of MLS experience who are out of contract and whose club does not offer them a contract at their previous salary (available at previous season's salary).
  • Players who are at least 30 years old with a minimum of eight years of MLS experience who are out of contract and whose club does not wish to re-sign them (available for at least 105 percent of their previous season's salary).
