The only thing is, you must have a guy that knows how to coach skill.
If Hurtado was 13 or 14 I'd maybe accept your logic but no one learns at 24 how to control the ball. Too late for that.
He may be one of those numerous speedy and physically strong guys who were unlucky to have bad coaches when they were younger. A lot of coaches abuse that natural speed and physical ability, set up a very defensive style of play, kick the ball down the field and let that big, strong, and speedy forward running after the ball all 90 minutes; he ends up having 6,7 breakaways per game, ends up scoring a goal or two, sometimes maybe three and people who pay attention only to stats get fooled.
No one works with that guy (at younger age) on improving the part of the game that he is not good at. See, that works while in youth and even you can play for some university/college teams like that. But, in any pro league (even semi-pro) that is not going to work. He will, of course, score a goal, here and there, but he will be exposed for his lack of skill.
