Great stuff Peg, nice to see that group of vets get one more provincial title and a shot at nationals. Much deserved.

It’s been a couple of days since the Provincials and finally able to put together some coherent thoughts together. First off, on behalf of Pegasus FC, hats off to CMF Wolves – an organization that is top notch from top to bottom and a team that is going to be one tough team to deal with many years for many years to come.

As for our Pegasus, what can I say? I have never been so proud of our guys. Since we first completed this feat in 2011, our group has had many adversities and challenges both on an organization level and individually for many of our players. We lost some people, gained some people, and almost even got demoted and had to go on a 9 and 0 run after the Xmas break just to stay up. Through it all, our core guys kept this group together and strong. Congrats to Paul Bahia and Adam Costley, both of whom deserve much if not all of the credit. They simply are the heart and soul of this team. Paul has done a tremendous job as player coach, it wasn’t an easy thing to ask of him, especially to coach the guys he considers his best friends and having to come down hard on them when needed to. And Adam is Adam – there aren’t many guys like him in our league and they don’t get any better than that. Congrats also to Sandy Sumra, who has helped run this team since the beginning and has had to deal with a lot of crap and the win is the icing on the cake.

Pegasus is a rag tag group of misfits, straight up! Every player has their stories and has had their ups and downs both on and off the field - but for some reason this group works. They go hard at trainings, kick each other to the ground as though they are mortal enemies during the session, but there is magic in that change room afterwards. Win or lose, the music will be blaring, the pints will be flowing and there will be no rushing home.

The agony of finishing 2nd at the Nationals in 2011 has stuck with these guys and they really felt a need for redemption and an opportunity to give it another go and bring a title back to BC. The group is 5 years older, maybe the bodies will hurt a little more, but regardless, these guys have figured out who they are and they are going to do it their way…no matter what…it’s the only way for them.

Congrats to all the guys, they are a great group and deserve this.

Time to take Porscha (gave the cup a name in 2011 by the way!) back to Vegas!!!

Massive thank you and well done to the VISL for doing a great job with hosting the Provincial championships this past weekend.

No official announcement yet but it is interesting to note that the FVSL will be hosting the Men's and Women's National Championships next year. Very confident they too will do a fantastic job. Does that mean two representatives from BC? Not sure on that one.

Some recent developments - the Northwest Territories contingent has withdrew from the National Championships. They were in a group with BC (Pegasus) and Quebec. As a result, there was a draw held today whereby one of either BC. ALTA, QUE or ONT were going to get a second spot. Meaning Metro Ford could potentially have been flying across the country with us. I'm not sure how the draw was done or how transparent it was but ALTA was the winner giving them two representatives. Makes for a true Group of Death with ALTA, QUE and BC in one group. Was looking forward to that match up against Yukon.

That is one crazy group... something doesn't entirely seem fair about it though. You're replacing perhaps the weakest team in the whole tourney with a team that traditionally would challenge for gold?

Completely in agreement - New Foundland has two teams in the tournament and they are both in the same group - a simple switch with them would seem to make most sense. Its in the hands of the CSA competitions committee at the moment who will meet and I have just been told that format will be confirmed next week. Will have to wait and see.

Just switch the format for this one year back to 2 groups and go from there... drop the 2nd Newfie entry and you would have 2 even groups of 5.

Seems more reasonable and saves upwards of $30K - $40K for a second-place BC or Alberta team spending to get there.

There isn't really a draw in the first place AFAIK - groups are predetermined based on how the previous year finished.

Shows what I know...but, why?

Doesn't seem to make sense to Natuonally rank, when in strong Provinces an 8 seed provincial team is considered as good a shot to win a trip to Nationals as the 1st ranked team. I would think a draw is the only way to go?

So apparently there was some sort of cross-border challenge played on July 23rd between Peg and the Washington State champs... aside from BC Soccer doing another excellent promotion job by posting it on their website on July 20th, did anyone know about this game?

Who won?
