Ah, here it is.

Read some of these comments...seriously.

Jon Chan‏ @jonchan69: "So you can’t fight back if a woman hits a man?!?!?"

Um, no...you can't.

Jon Chan‏ @jonchan69: "I’m just saying if she provoked him she deserved it #GetTheseHands"

Wow, seriously...what a loser. I don't care what a crazy soccer mom did or said, no way, ever, ever, can you hit a woman. I can't think of any circumstance where it's OK.

According to Palmer, a verbal dispute erupted after a parent picked up the game ball after it rolled out of bounds. A player on the opposing team alleged the parent was holding on to the ball to run down the game clock.

Palmer said the dispute escalated and resulted in a woman in the midst of the argument getting punched in the jaw.

Police are investigating if the woman was the intended target or hit accidentally.

One thing I don't miss about playing is the handbags. I was never good at actually throwing a punch, could talk a good game about it but actually doing it? Fcuk me man, I have fragile wrists!

Agonizingly 0 for 2 on semi-final predictions. CCB through away a pair of chances at silverware in the space of two games while Metro Ford were suffocated into submission by a stifling defensive effort. Alas, the show must go on and it is the showpiece that we have now reached with Rovers and Metro Ford squaring off for, if my math is correct (first winner 1913 minus 13 years without the competition) the 93rd playing of the Imperial Cup!

Semi Finals: 0/2
Overall: 13/21

Completely Baseless Predictions - FINAL

Rovers Tigers v West Van
If there is one team that knows how to win a final, you would have to think it would be Rovers. The reigning Provincial and National Champions are looking to capture the one trophy that eluded them last season. After having to return the VMSL title, now in the possession of Croatia SC, Rovers will have an immediately opportunity to fill the vacancy in their trophy cabinet. Their semi final performance was dominant. A fully healthy Rovers squad looked a different class against the then league leaders, CCB. It was a great day for the Surrey boys out at Empire against their local rivals, coming away with a 4-1 win and seeing all their big guns firing. Pavi Dhillion had the first two goals while VMSL Golden Boot winner Nick Soolsma capped the day off, putting things out of reach with the fourth marker sandwiched around a CCB own goal. Ryan Dhillon came on at half time and looked unplayable on the flank, setting up the play that led to both the own goal and Soolsma's tally, while Cam Hundal, who was missing for the majority of the second half of Rovers season last year and their Provincial Cup triumph, was back to his old self as the maestro in the middle of the park. The win assured Rovers would be returning to try and defend their Provincial Cup title after things were beginning to get a little hot under the collar in terms of a top six finish. However, as good as they looked against CCB they followed that up with a rather apathetic looking 2-1 loss to Coquitlam, the loser of the other Imperial Cup semi-final. Now, maybe, knowing the game was ostensibly meaningless, Rovers took their foot off the gas. That being said, the game was meaningless to Metro Ford as well, so read into the result what you like.

West Van returned to league play on the back of their defensive master class semi final 2-1 victory over Coquitlam by being promptly eliminated from title contention in a 1-0 loss to Rino's. Live by the sword, die by the sword, one assumes. Or perhaps that should be "live by the shield, die by the shield" given the former Trollers preference for defensive football. The problem, of course, being that if you do play for one goal wins there is always the chance that you are not the team to notch that crucial goal. Fortunately for the North Shore have come out on the right end of the equation more often than not this year, though perhaps not quite as often as a quick glance at their record might seem to indicate. A closer look at the stats show that seven of their 12 league wins were by more than one goal, but six of those seven were against the bottom three sides and the seventh was against Peg who were mired in the depth of the table at that time before riding a solid end to their campaign to a mid-table finish. Remove those wins and their record against the rest of the league (aka the competitive portion) is 5-6-4. All five of those wins were by just a single goal. Of course, the losses too were by just a single goal. Factor in the six draws and the reality becomes clear that the majority of West Van games, at least against quality opposition, sit poised on a knife's edge. Add in three more single goal wins in the Imperial Cup, including a last gasp equalizer and eventual extra-time win over Division 1 side Coquitlam Metro Ford Lupi, and it is safe to say we are likely looking at a close final come Saturday evening.

The league meetings between these side produced some high quality affairs; so if we can get something close to that for the final, we should be in for a decent encounter. On Opening Day these two teams played potentially the match of the season out at Newton in a back and forth affair that Rovers won 4-3 on a heartbreaking late own goal from West Van. The North Shore boys would have their revenge at Ambleside though, emerging as 3-2 winners in the rematch. Despite West Van's stout defense, Rovers are wired to attack, so there is little chance they decide to sit back and box clever in this one, eye a 1-0 win. So the question then becomes, who blinks first? Will Rovers notch an early goal and force West Van to chase things? Or can West Van capitalize on a set piece or counterattack and then absorb Rovers pressure? It should make for an entertaining watch. Rovers Tigers last lifted the Imperial Cup in 2013 when they were Delta Hurricanes while West Van's last triumph came in 2015 when they were in the heyday of their titanic top of the league rivalry with Metro Ford. As some added incentive the winner here will be seeded for Monday's Provincial Cup draw, ensuring a home game and avoiding any of the league champions. As for a prediction, I will go back to my earlier comment about West Van playing on a knife's edge. When it works, it is great, but in a cup final, can they hold off a full strength Rovers side and their glut of attacking options for 90 minutes and steal a winner somewhere in their? It seems unlikely and their league results would seem to indicate that as well. West Van are going to have to get after this one and I think that favours Rovers and their weapons.

Rovers Tigers 1-3 West Van

Beauty day down at Empire for the finals. The Imperial began as you might expect with Rovers bossing the early possession but West Van content to sit in and absorb the pressure. That game plan lasted all of 20 minutes however, as Ryan Dhillon slashed in a lovely strike that arrowed into the far side netting to put Rovers in the lead. Rovers looked like they might run away with things but credit to West Van as they knuckles down and ended up turning things around completely before half time. Their equalizer can from perhaps a questionable goalkeeping decision that left their winger to finish into an unguarded cage. They then found themselves on top when their attack was willing to want it more in the tough areas and nodded in a smashing header to make it 2-1.

Things would get even better for West Van just minutes into the second half when they stoked a sumptuous free kick into the top corner to make it 3-1. Rovers would of course turn up heat from this point on, but against a defence like West Van's chances were always going to be at a premium. Rovers would get their chance though when they were given a PK after the West Van keeper got it all wrong. However, the penalty spot was cursed on this day as captain Jason Gill blasted over from 12 yards. It was the third in game penalty missed on Cup finals day in addition to the slew of pks stopped in the Div. 2 shootout. Once that one was missed it was lights out. Congrats to West Van, the 2019 Imperial Cup champions!
