Priorities must include getting some help for the younger assets we have and will have come training camp in September.

Vrbata & Prust are gone as UFA's. UFA's also include Hamhuis, Weber & Bartkowski. Baertschi, Etem, Vey, Kenins, Granlund, & Pedan are RFA's.

Higgins, Burrows, Miller and Markstrom are UFA's at the end of next season. Burrows makes less in actual salary than his cap hit making him attractive to "Floor Teams" looking to make the floor without having to contribute all the real dollars, see Arizona, Carolina etc. The same applies to Dorsett for his two remaining years of contract.

If Benning & Linden are to be trusted- that they're rebuilding while trying to put a good product on the ice and get younger, faster and more durable I'd do the following.

Trade Burrows for whatever you can get for him, be it future considerations or what have you, this frees up an additional $4m in cap space.

Milan Lucic (He's hated, but he has his talents and a ring to go with them, as hard as that is for Nucks fans to accept) should be signed if he's willing to sign for ~$6M per on a 4-5 year term. He's turning 28 in a few months. Rumour is he's likely to re-sign with LA.

Andrew Ladd is also a UFA. Won't put up the points that a Lucic will, but has 2 cup rings and is 30. If you can sign him for $5-$6 you have another sturdy good skating winger.

Resign Dan Hamhuis and ask for the old Hometown Discount. This should have been dealt with by having him traded last deadline and him re-arriving July 1 but....

Sedin - Sedin - Lucic
Ladd - Horvat - Virtanen/Baertschi
Hansen - Sutter - Virtanen/Baerstchi
Etem - Gaunce - Dorsett
Hamhuis - Hutton
Edler - Tanev
Sbisa - Biega/Tryamkin
Miller/Markstrom

That put's you roughly at ~$65M and leaves you almost $10M in cap space to grab help on D. This assumes Higgins is shipped away or to the farm and Etem and Baertschi get 100% raises from last year's deals. This also assumes McCann goes to the farm for a year, as do Granlund, Vey and others needing to develop further. Hard to do with the RFA's unless they sign 2 way deals. This is unlikely for Granlund and all of the above does't include any of one of the two Finns or Matthews ending up here after the draft.

That team's not winning the cup, but it's putting good seasoned players, including a former Captain in Ladd around developing talent, providing a road map for your young forwards to transition into first line players so the Sedins can become second line players and PP specialists in their advancing years. That also means that you have to convince Ladd and Lucic that there's a coming window for this team with the Sedins still productive but with youngsters not far off their prime and Ladd and Lucic can be core to the quick turn.

Getting half of that done this off season would be massively productive.

My $0.02.

I would rather get rid of Dorsett and keep Burrows around as a mentor / leader... the cap hit he has shouldn't really matter with such a young line-up.

But it will when you need to start resigning RFA's like Hutton, Horvat etc... Plus it's worth noting that Burrows is amongst the most hated people in the NHL and it's not because he's hard to play against, which is why people hate Milan Lucic as an example... that's not leadership

Burrows cap hit won't matter when it comes to upping Hutton and Horvat

Decent, I just don't see room for him on the team, if I were running the team. He's certainly not going to usurp any of Sedin, Horvat and Sutter... He's no 4th line Centre in the classic sense of what that position usually entails.

I'd imagine that's not a 2 way deal as it's not mentioned in the news either.

Auston Matthues to Arizona, Canucks trade D Edler to Arizona, young Arizonas top D man to Canucks, Burbois becomes Canucks first pick. Fins to Toronto and Edmonton,Mcleoud to Columbus. That's how I see it. Arizona is moving to new arena Matthues will be the ticket man. President of NHL has lots to do with luck.
It really does not matter who goes first, top five players in this years draft are no mistake at all. Chances of getting a first pick are not very good. It's long shot possibility Benning has added a very good goal-tender from PG to Canucks youth movement. Things look good.
Hole in one is more fun to watch than NHL presidents talk, man is boring.
I'll talk to you guys in September. Rest is crap shoot.

I want nothing but Austin Matthews. #stamkoscountdown #leafsnation
I'd be OK with that as long as Canucks get #2...my ideal results would be :
Leafs.....Mathews
Canucks...Laine
Jets.... Puljujarvi
Any of the combination above, just keep the Oilers and Flames out of there!!!!!
Everything I hear and read the Laine kid is going to be something special
