As some TTPers may know, my youngest son Kade became very ill in August 2009 and was admitted into Children’s hospital at the beginning of September. He was soon diagnosed with an Irritable Bowel Disease (IBD) known as Ulcerative Colitis (UC) - which is extremely rare for a child who is only 2 1/2 years old. He lived at the hospital for nearly the next 5 months… with the occasional “pass” just to get him outta there!

My wife and I rotated who slept at the hospital vs home as we had to take our eldest son to school, hockey practice, etc (insert my excuse here for being such a sieve this past season :D ).

We received an incredible amount of support from our doctors, nurses, dietitians, friends, and family… and are lucky to have our little boy back home with all of his organs! He is improving daily and we are committed to helping others who also suffer from this disease.

My family and I are all participating in the Crohns and Colitis Foundation of Canada’s Heel N Wheel-a-thon happening this Sunday June 13 at Bear Creek Park in Surrey from 10am to noon. The CCFC is a fantastic organization that is committed to raising funds for medical research into finding a cure for this painful disease.

Below is a link to my son’s page for the event this weekend.

Please consider this organization for your charitable donations for 2010.

Wow... Oranje... I think that was you... thank you. And Bergamascho. Cheers.

Our initial "goal" was $1000... and we are now at over $3400 (we keep revising our goal now). We are blown away. Thank you to everyone for your generosity!

That's a great total SixFyv! On my little cause I think TTP contributed around that last year, and getting near around the same amount this year again. The TTP community has been great over the years for this stuff.

Happy to hear yours went so well...massive numbers! :D
