Field closures

Because I couldn't find an existing thread for this...

All the grass fields in North Van are closed for this weekend (like they should have been last weekend).

Official quote from the NVan Parks and Field Allocator:

To all leagues using N.V. Fields,

Official word from the District and City is all grass / gravel fields are frozen solid. They say that it will take them days to unthaw once the weather warms up. They feel it is a safety and liability issue if they allow play.

You can't make this stuff up...

Personally I'd be happy just to have the fields over there thaw out. Dunno about the unthawing process.

BTW Adanac and Hillcrest are both closed. Again.

Turf fields all over should be closed too. I know SSA turf is harder than the grass.

All grass in surrey are closed for tomorrow, not sure for Sunday but probably the same.... Like Knvb mentioned, how are turf fields still open if they too are frozen. If someone gets hurt who's liable ?! The ref? The league ? The city ?

Todays' matches at Adanac and Hillcrest are cancelled.

Expect the same tomorrow if the rain keeps up.

The FVSL has already cancelled games but not the VMSL. WTF?

Be careful out there. You don't want to get frostbite. Wear appropriate clothing, especially socks. Cotton is bad.

Word on the street is that the VMSL has also cancelled all games but there is an internal struggle regarding what font colour to use on the website to denote the cancellations.

To be fair, they do need to be careful... they need to make sure the colour is available in Ruben's box of Crayolas

Well nevermind, they've updated the page and removed the turf closures.

So it is all grass pitches which are closed in Vancouver.
