So went back to Golden Eagle South on Thursday. Brother in Law wanted to get in a round to start off the season and they are still pretty cheap. About $25 for a 4pm tee time. 2 of us walked the course at a reasonable pace except when we had to look for his ball.

Figured after a few weeks, and on a Men's night the course surely must be in better shape now. This is what we found........



Seriously?! Did they hire Carl Spackler to do the greens?

Fairways are cut but bunker still haven't been cleaned up and raked. They all look like waste bunkers! Not sure what they're waiting for. Weathers great. Losing out on green fees for sure.
Don't get me wrong, it's still a playable course, and for the price it's good to go hit a ball but don't expect much off the fairways.

Lit up a nice little track called Talking Rock today.

Shotty iron play and took too long to find a feel for the greens.

Originally booked for 11:40 with a storm rolling in at 2:00 but called in and snuck in on a cancellation at 9:40 with another twosome and got paired up the Lovely Allison and Mike McNeil of Canadian Women's Basketball fame. Very enjoyable round.

Missed out on a round at Canoe Creek that I would have loved to play on Friday.
Guess I'll have to come up to Shuswap again this summer. Twist my rubber arm.

If you are able to remortgage, I'd play PGA West.

There are 7 courses at PGA West. TPC stadium, a Greg Norman , Jack Nicklaus, plus a few others. Tempted to fly my clubs down as it looks like it's $75 alone for a rental. Also may buy some irons down there, some crazy deals.

As for Merrit, the closest is Quilchena and then you are a bit of a trek to Tobiano in Kamloops or Salmon Arm etc. Don't think Sagebrush has reopened since Zokol drove it into the ground.

Would love to have done Sagebrush, little fly fishing awesome. Tobiano is a bit out of the way but I definitely want to play there one day. Not a great golfer yet by any means, usually shoot around 100 but a day on the course beats a day in the office. Love to try new tracks.

Best deal around home $25 at swaneset Members course late afternoon. Teed off at 5:20 and finished 18 easy. Course is in great shape

If you are looking to buy used irons or deals try Pete Carlson's...unless he has been run out of business by the big chains. Great deals on clubs rich retired guys bought and tried for a week and they didn't cure the fact that they were shitty players. put about 10 feet, had a bit of a break and lipped the eagle, but managed to sink the bird. Shot a 94 on the day. Also hit up the 4 day Golf Town clearance sale this weekend, picked up some new Taylormade Aero Burner Irons. $749.00 for $425.00. Can't wait to test them out.

Tee boxes must have been up to get around the trees by the water. Or way back. If I recall it's tough to cut corner without catching trees.

I had a tall tee, and just put everything I had into it. Was trying to go just over the tip of the water to go straight on, but had a bit of a hook, can't complain with it that's for sure.

I'm very mediocre all around and usually I never drive it that far. I can usually hit my driver 250-260 regularly, very rarely does it hit 300, it's highly possible that it also hit the cart path and gave me the extra yardage but with the tree's its hard to tell. I'll never complain on the members bounce, if that's the case.. Good drive, horrible fairway wood, botched chip, nice putt, the order always changes lol. Just need to play more to fine tune the skills, but certainly enjoy the game and the pints. TTP tourny anyone?
