Imperial Cup [Imperial Cup 2005] Pre-Tourney Banter

I don't understand why the 2 week wait to do the draws?

It appears the only Div 1 teams not entering the Imperial Cup are Norvan Primos, Meralomas, and Firemen C

The league for next year should just rename the Div 1 Cup next year to the CAT Cup and make the Imperial Cup mandatory for Div 1. Do these Div 1 teams a favour and make men out of them.

Most of our team thought that we werent going to enter in the Imperial Cup, considering our coach's picture is on the side of a 2% milk carton, our last game ended being abandoned for "attempting" to assault the ref and we havent practised in like ........I dont think we practise anymore. Now that we are in, were hoping our wed. night indoor games are good preparation for the Imperial and were also hoping to get Khalsa in the first round....It would be a confidence booster knowing the other team has HOS in net.

There should only be 2 cups. The Imperial: for all Premier and Div 1 teams. The Bell (Alex) Cup for all CAT and Div 2 teams that wish to participate. 7 teams in the Div 1 Cup is stupid.

Well the draw goes Thursday night at 8pm, with the first round of games on the Weekend of Feb. 19th and 20th.
Thought before the draw I would throw out a few dream first round match-ups.

Sapperton vs. Trollers - the way WAB has been slagging the Trollups on here, I would love to see the Carphin brothers give Sap. the knvb treatment.

Burnaby vs. Inter - the Old I-ties vs. the Young Guns, would make for a great Cup game.

Temple vs. Indo - By the sounds of past games, Part 3 as an Imperial Cup game, would be a cracker.

Wicham vs. Norvan - the two new top teams on the NorthShore battle it out to see who is best.

Pegasus vs. Weakside - they have allways had classic battles, but they are headed for relegation, so we may not see any of those classics anymore.

Fireman vs. DCRoyals - the Fireman allways like to wind up Ivor, it would be fun for one more match.
and last but not least
Croatia vs. Serb. White Eagles - can't get any better rivalry than this one, still remember Swangard a few years ago, too much.

I'll add a few more potential "dream match-ups":

AFC vs Sapperton: Larsson and the crew seem to have a shrewd history with the Sapperton boys.

SFC Peg vs Surrey United: Roy Mitchell vs. Martin Foden. With Peg bound for Div one and a future home at Newton....whose gonna lure all the "talent in the Valley"..(sorry for the oxymoron). To top things off, I bet this fixture gets played at Kinsman

Khalsa vs. Temple or Indo/Akal: Watching a bunch of East Indians kick the shite out of each other could be very entertaining

Club Ireland vs. Richmond Utd: A derby thats been on the backburner for years. Willy vs. The Captain.......Is this 1995 or 2005?

MetroFord vs. SFC Peg: Higgsy's back....In fact he might even throw himself in between the pipes.....actaully, he might even throw himself up front. After all, he's the only one who thinks he could still play

Deep Cove vs. Trollups: Double or nothing. If Deep Cove wins Fiji gets their "money" back.

The Imperial Cup is a great competition.
