Anyone get out to any PCSL games recently?

Looking through the teams and recognize a few familiar names...

I watched UBC whip Tigers last night. I left when it was 3-0, and it looks like they let their foot off the pedal as it ended 3-1.

Reynold Stewart with a top corner golazo for the 2nd goal.

Yes. His former assistant Nick is actually running a team for Vancouver United. I heard there were some issues with players wanting to play there, but "owing" Mosh a PCSL season even though they're done CIS eligibility.

Yes Vancouver United formed a team this year. Mostly guys that played at UBC and now coach at VUFC. Nick coaching. Heard JJ playing as well although I'm unclear how he will get around out there with the young guys.

Watched the first hour of the Khalsa game today. They were up 3-0. Lots of nice ball movement, particularly by Khalsa. The quality of play was better than in most VMSL premier games.
Diaz scored a great goal with a rocket of a shot from 25 yards out. Justwanttoplay was the ref today. He handled all the dissenting and complaining players quite well.

3 teams tied for first place with only 3 weeks left to play. Should be a good finale to the season.

One would think the fire department, not the police would have been called. Those meddling kids and their jazz flute. Get off our artificial lawn.

Thanks for sharing my story. It was funny how many times he kept referring to the horn as a "flute". He did make little "airy-fairy" gestures with his hands at least once while saying it so I assume he thought he was being funny and insulting.

Pride parade is this weekend in Vancouver, maybe he thought you were lost and had the dates confused?

Seriously, though...is the PCSL still relevant? Obviously the top men's open amateur league in BC is the VMSL, and the VISL / FVSL both far back angling for 2nd. Then there is the CIS & CCAA. The PCSL seems to be where younger players will play in order to do what they need to improve for the winter season...whatever that league is.

Am I wrong?

Not that there aren't quality players and teams, it just doesn't seem to be a top priority. Even though one can make a very strong argument that the best Premier teams across all leagues should play in some sort of a Super League. What would one call such a league? BCPL?

Has this been discussed?

:D

OK, but have you met the esteemed leaders of the other leagues?

The Willy and Ruben show is way past it's prime, and many would say operating a two-person autocracy over there. Seems most would welcome change, but the few holding the strings of power continue to hold on hard.

And, have you met the president of the FVSL? A Muppet, and not even one of the smart Muppets (but he tries hard). :knvb:

Can't comment on the VISL leadership.

Seriously, though...perceptions on leadership aside, what is the true quality of this league nowadays? It's all but disappeared from the local scene?

Anyone?

Bueller?
