Ok, after some delay, soul searching, false promises, nasty politics and a recognition of some be careful what you wish for issues, Sir M's Excellent Power Rankings are back with the 2015-2016 inaugural edition. Lets get on with it now:

1. Port Moody O'Rangers FC (FVSL) (last week's ranking: not ranked). This team is undefeated and atop of the FVSL Masters Premier heap. Staff are curious as to what the big O means. Sikh tonight.
2. Coquitlam Port Coquitlam Metro Ford Sapperton Euro-Rite Castillian Rover Wolves (VMSL) (last week's ranking: not ranked). This team, which after some debate by staff, will heretofore be known in these rankings as CMFPCE (that's way better). Recent 5-1 and 4-3 home wins over perennial rankings heavyweights Columbus and West Van respectively leaps them to not only a 1 point first place margin in VMSL Masters Premier, but more importantly, second spot in these rankings. Romanians next.
3. Croatia SC M A (VMSL) (last week's ranking: not ranked). This is a group that appears to be coming to terms with their identity. One of four teams tied for second place in VMSL Masters Premier. Away to West Van next.
4. West Van FC M (VMSL) (last week's ranking: not ranked). This side's mini-streak came to a halt last night at Town Center. Also in a second place tie in VMSL Masters Premier. Croatians are next up.
5. Portuguese Club of Vancouver M A (VMSL) (last week's ranking: not ranked). This team looked to be world beaters coming out of the gate, but mittens and leggings weather have slowed them down. Staff predict a resurgence after Movember is over. Also tied in second in VMSL. Up The Drive a couple blocks to Falconetti's next.
6. North Delta SC Rangers (FVSL) (last week's ranking: not ranked). In a curious phenomena not seen since CFL teams from both Regina and Saskatchewan imaginatively settled on the same nickname, this is one of several dozen Rangers sides in the FVSL. Currently, the Rangers are in second place, snapping at the heels of the Rangers.
7. Columbus FC M A (VMSL) (last week's ranking: not ranked). Columbus has cured its scoring woes of last year, but is another team suffering from excessive hair this month. Also tied for second in VMSL. Away to arch-rivals Westside next.
8. Westside FC M A (VMSL) (last week's ranking: not ranked). This side, the reigning BC and Western Canada Masters Champions and a walking testimony to the strength of these rankings, is rounding into form. With but a few exceptions, they have robust dental plans. Columbus next.
9. Romanian FC M (VMSL) (last week's ranking: not ranked). This side consistently beats Falconettis. Po Co Metro Ford next.
10. Surrey United (FVSL) (last week's ranking: not ranked). Currently in fourth place in FVSL Masters Premier, this former VMSL and before that FVSL but now back in FVSL side are coming of back to back victories.
11. Roma (NSCL) (last week's ranking: not ranked). Roma are atop the NSCL standings and are undefeated. This is a team, are well prepared, and are known to have several dozen players warming up at the game. Please enjoy the following rare footage of a Roma warm up before arch rival Seymour up at Confederation Park:

12. Coastal FC Peace Arch (FVSL) (last week's ranking: not ranked). This side are currently in third spot in FVSL Masters Premier. They have lodged an official complaint about having a bye this week.
13. Shaheen FC M (VMSL) (last week's ranking: not ranked). This side has brought their attacking style and penchant for showering with their underwear on to VMSL Masters Div 1, where they currently dominate.
14. South Surrey FC (FVSL) (last week's ranking: not ranked). This team makes its debut in the rankings as a Div 1 side. Currently first place and undefeated in FVSL Masters Div 1.
15. Delta United (FVSL) (last week's ranking: not ranked). This team, reeling from a change in government, has had a slow start to the season. Currently sixth place in FVSL Masters Premier.
16. SFC Temple United A (FVSL) (last week's ranking: not ranked). Temple are also off to a slow start, but for the same reason that has DU down, their spirits are buoyed. Big game coming up against the #1 ranked side. Currently fifth in FVSL.
17. Langley FC Rangers (FVSL) (last week's ranking: not ranked). A FVSL team nicknamed Rangers for a change, this side sits in second spot in FVSL Masters Div 1. Last night they took it to the next level.
18. Vancouver United Rangers (VMSL) (last week's ranking: not ranked). This Div 1 VMSL Masters side gets into this week's rankings after an expected defeat of the pedestrian Norvan side last night. Should perhaps compete for promotion this year.
19. Croatia SC Stallions (VMSL). Another VMSL Div 1 Masters side cracks this week's rankings.
20. Falconetti's East Side (VMSL) (last week's ranking: not ranked).
This side has found it a bit of a tough go in VMSL Masters Premier this year; currently in eighth spot in the table and will have to scratch to avoid relegation. Or merge with someone near the top of the rankings.

So that is it for this week. Good luck to all sides vying for spots in Sir M's Excellent Power Rankings.

I am thinking #3 Croatia against #4 West Van is MOTW. #2 Metro Ford (who wont be with the runaway Golden Boot leader staff report) vs #9 Romania also worth watching as is #1 PMO against #12 Coastal.

#7 Columbus vs #8 Westside is a traditional classic.

Talk about last minute. Usually less than reliable staff had promised to have the latest edition of the rankings available by Christmas. Sir M, based on staff's checkered track record, was skeptical, but ultimately, pleasantly surprised. So, staff have come up with the 2015 Christmas edition of Sir M's Excellent Power Rankings. Here we go:

1. West Van FC M (VMSL) (last week's ranking: 4). This side has been on a tear since the last edition of these rankings, knocking off four straight top ten ranked teams in the process. Currently four points clear atop the VMSL Masters Premier standings.
2. Port Coquitlam Metro Ford (VMSL) (last week's ranking: 2). This team missed out on an opportunity to move atop of these rankings with another in a series of losses to nemesis Westside. Second place in VMSL Masters Premier at the break.
3. North Delta SC Rangers (FVSL) (last week's ranking: 6). One of many Rangers in the Fraser Valley, this team has quietly moved into a first place tie in FVSL Masters Premier, and are undefeated at the break. A recent tie may well have precluded their moving into a loftier rankings position.
4. Portuguese Club of Vancouver M A (VMSL) (last week's ranking: 5). This is as talented a team front to back as there is in these rankings. Unfortunately they are from Portugal. Currently in third spot in VMSL Masters Premier, one point adrift of Metro Ford. A recent loss to historical rival Columbus has held this side back from moving into the top three of these rankings.
5. Port Moody Rangers FC (FVSL) (last week's ranking: 1). The rankings can be cruel, and the rankings can be humiliating. Not, however, as humiliating as getting schooled by Delta. Down four.
6. Croatia SC M A (VMSL) (last week's ranking: 3). Speaking of cruel, a recent one-sided loss to the top ranked side drops Croatia three spots. Currently fifth in VMSL Masters Premier.
7. Westside FC M A (VMSL) (last week's ranking: 8). This side, the reigning BC and Western Canada Masters Champions and a walking talking and complaining testimony to the strength of these rankings, continues to rounding into form. Staff are predicting they will be especially rounded after the Christmas break. Knocking off Poco again moves them up one spot.
8. Columbus FC M A (VMSL) (last week's ranking: 7). Columbus came out of a lengthy death spiral with an emphatic 3-0 defeat of PCOV on the weekend. Currently in fifth spot in VMSL Masters Premier.
9. Delta United (FVSL) (last week's ranking: 15). This team is up a full six spots after knocking off previously #1 PMO Rangers last week by 2-0 score. Currently fifth place in FVSL Masters Premier.
10. Coastal FC Peace Arch (FVSL) (last week's ranking: 12). This side eases into the top ten after tying top of the table North Delta on the weekend. Currently in fourth spot in FVSL Masters Premier.
11. Romanian FC M (VMSL) (last week's ranking: 10). This side consistently beats Falconettis. It looks like this side is at risk for relegation should any VMSL Div 1 teams decide to accept promotion.
12. Surrey United (FVSL) (last week's ranking: 11). Currently in third place in FVSL Masters Premier, this former VMSL contender has gone back to their home over the river.
13. South Surrey FC (FVSL) (last week's ranking: 14). South Surrey is currently first place and undefeated in FVSL Masters Div 1. Staff are puzzled as to why there are never any teams that claim to be from North Surrey.
14. Vancouver United Rangers (VMSL) (last week's ranking: 18). This Div 1 VMSL Masters side sits atop of the standings in the second tier. Should perhaps compete for promotion this year.
15. Shaheen FC M (VMSL) (last week's ranking: 13). This side continues to compete for top spot in VMSL Masters Div 1. They start 2016 on an optimistic note, with new recruits arriving daily.
16. SFC Temple United A (FVSL) (last week's ranking: 16). Temple to be frank have been a disappointment thus far this year. Staff have heard rumours of a merger with Columbus somewhere along the line. Currently sixth in FVSL.
17. Roma (NSCL) (last week's ranking: 11). Roma are atop the NSCL standings and are undefeated. This team and/or a currently unranked NSCL side will qualify for the BCs this season.
18. Langley FC Rangers (FVSL) (last week's ranking: 17). A FVSL team nicknamed Rangers for a change, this side sits in second spot in FVSL Masters Div 1, but have slipped 9 points out of top spot.
19. Croatia SC Stallions (VMSL) (last week's ranking: 19). Staff are reporting that the goaltender for this VMSL Div 1 Masters side recently set a rankings record for whining about the referee, complaining that the official did not spend sufficient time outside of the center circle. Staff, however, have uncovered rare video footage which refutes such a claim:

20. Next Level Rapids (FVSL) (last week's ranking: not ranked). This team debuts in these rankings by forging their way into third place in FVSL Masters Div 1, knocking the revered Falconetti's out of the 20th spot.

So that is it, just under the deadline. From everyone at Sir M's Excellent Power Rankings, have a safe and happy holiday season.

And don't drink too much. You know who you are.

After a rather significant break, followed by an extended and painful hiatus, possibly related to over application of Preparation G, staff have rallied for a last minute edition of the final four of Sir M's Excellent Power Rankings. Here we go with the ranking of the semi-finalists:

1. Port Coquitlam Metro Ford (VMSL) (last week's ranking: 2). The third place VMSL finishers and league cup champs have a tough trip to Vancouver Island this weekend and a pick'em game against the VISL champs. The presence of Rangerforever tips the scale in their favour.

2. UVic Alumni (VISL) (last week's ranking: not ranked). The VISL Champions and top seed in the tournament have been riding a home field wave into the semis, having knocked off a former top ranked side last week over on the Island. Can they dismiss another rankings heavyweight again by the bay? Let's go out for a live time Oak Bay analysis by the Sir M's Excellent Power Rankings top VISL staff correspondent:

3. Coastal FC Peace Arch (FVSL) (last week's ranking: 10). The FVSL Portemann Cup Masters champions are red hot of late. Can they continue their hot streak on their first date with a VMSL opponent this year? Staff are reporting that a pre game FVSL performance of the team theme song could make the difference on the trip to East Van this afternoon:

4. Croatia SC M A (VMSL) (last week's ranking: 6). Staff are reporting that Croatia, a sub .500 sixth place team in the VMSL this year, have turned things around at the right time. Today should be a stout test and a match where there could be significant fireworks. One to watch.

So that is it for the special BC semi finals edition of Sir M's Excellent Power Rankings. Good luck to all teams still involved. Video imbeds courtesy of Campo Athletico staff.
